🚴‍♀️ Local Stories, Global Dreams 🌍

Behind every championship jersey is a story, and Irene's begins right here in Nannup. It’s not all glamourous and takes a lot of grit!

What started as everyday cycling in Switzerland – visiting friends, exploring forests and catching trains – eventually led to a life in Nannup, where riding remained part of family life and daily routines.

Inspired by the cycling community she encountered while volunteering at local events, Irene entered FIVE with one simple goal: to finish. That ride unexpectedly earned her a place at the UCI Gravel World Championships.

It's a wonderful reminder that extraordinary achievements can grow from ordinary beginnings, and that some of our community's most inspiring stories are happening right here on our local trails.

We're proud to see Irene Schmutz representing Nannup on the world stage and wish her every success. 👏
