Paynesville always shows up when it matters most.

From Paynesville Hotel to Paynesville Football Netball Supporters Club and the wider community, this is what happens when locals come together to fight The Beast.

Every parma, raffle ticket and show of support makes a difference. 💙❄️

Paynesville, this one is personal.

Many of you know me (Bear) from the pub, but behind the scenes my family is facing something incredibly tough.

My dad, Graeme Thomson, is battling MND — a cruel disease that slowly takes away a person’s ability to move, speak and live independently.

So this week, Paynesville Hotel and Paynesville Football Netball Club are joining forces to support the fight against MND 💙❄️

$10 from every parma sold Monday 1st–Thursday 4th and 100% from every parma sold Friday 5th will be donated to the Big Freeze campaign. Funds will support Graeme Thomson and local legend Mitch Willmott, who’ll be taking the plunge down the big slide at the Bairnsdale FNC DIY Big Freeze on Saturday.

The Paynesville FNC will also be donating 50% of Friday night’s raffle profits, with the club running its biggest raffle of the year and plenty of great prizes up for grabs.

The Paynesville Cricket Club is proud to officially announce the re-election of David Matthews as Club President for season 2026/27.

A passionate supporter of local cricket and community sport, David’s love for the game and commitment to the Gulls continue to help drive the club forward both on and off the field.

Organised two days before the final ANZAC Cove evacuation, this cricket match was played on Shell Green to create a false sense of normalcy and distract the Turks from the imminent departure of Allied troops.

Major George Macarthur Onslow of the Light Horse is batting, while shells passed overhead the entire time the game was in progress.

Great week of cricket from Paynesville players Liam, Tate and Kabir in the annual T@H Academy v Gippsland Vikings series, played across Melbourne and four games in Sale during the school holidays 👏🏏☀️

Liam was superb opening on a tough wicket, making 27, 30, 19 and 10, while also taking 4 wickets and holding two sharp slips catches.

Kabir impressed as an all-rounder, with 1/2 off 2 overs on Day 3 helping turn the game, plus 2/14 on the final day and a great run out.

Tate bowled two excellent spells, taking 2/24 off 8 on Day 2 including their top two batters, and 1/12 on Day 4, while also making 5 on Days 1 and 2*.

A terrific reminder that while the school holidays may end, the cricket keeps rolling on 💙 Paynesville Cricket Club is so proud of these players!
