About John:

John started drifting in 2007 and competing in 2008 in a Turbo LPG 4ltr XF Ute. Although the vehicle choice was a little unorthodox, it did the job well. After continuos development, it proved to be quite competitive at a state and national level. John competed in Tasmania, Adelaide & Sydney, as well as in the Victorian Series with numerous podiums along the way. After a move to drift

crazy Brisbane in 2010, John enjoyed the frequent practice/fun drift days but didn't focus on competition in Australia very much. Preferring to compete in the G1GP at Ebisu Circuit in Japan, along with the Drift Matsuri's in the R32 "Police Missile". It wasn't long after returning from Japan that the Ute was replaced by a Toyota Cressida with 1jz power. This followed by a 1ggte Corona battle car while he built the LS1 powered S13 Silvia and returned to Melbourne in 2012. John competed in several local comps in 2012/13 using the LS1via including ADGP. Mid 2013 the LS1via was retired from drifting after a close encounter with a Calder Park wall. A few months later the Bluebird was acquired and the SR20 conversion commenced.

Well SUMMERNATS was huuuuge, it was such a rad vibe at the Drift Cadet demos. Great people behind the scenes, great drivers, stoked passengers and a massive crowd!
I used 18 tyres, took 46 passengers and drove with pretty much everyone. It was one of the best so far!

Would it be Dreyer Motorsport style if we weren’t trying to rush a build to make it to event? Yeah, probs not.
We’ve decided to give the mighty Bluey one last hurrah (might be John Farnham style, we’ll see)
and send it at SUMMERNATS!
Only problem is the little SR20 packed it in at the last event.
So it’s rebuild time!

Drift X was a roller coaster event!
I broke third gear just before lunch on Saturday, super wife Bec stopped by and grabbed a replacement from Leigh 👌🏻 and we were back on track for the evening session.
I got to take a heap of friends for rides, trying to enter as fast as possible saw a blast, managed to scare Ricky nearly speechless haha.
But past gremlins returned and the motor got hurt in the process 😢 so the event was over for the Bluey. Time for bigger and better thingZ 😉

Thanks to Jhay & Cam, for throwing me the keys to keep me grinning through the lows of the day. And thanks to Bec, Leigh, Ricky & the gang & anyone else that helped out. Thanks to VicDrift crew, volunteers and the crowd! Hi 5-ing the little drift fans as I drove by was a highlight for sure!
