Welcome to Melbourne University Cycling Club's page. This is our primary portal for club news and organising social activities, club rides, racing, etc. Check out our Facebook group at www.facebook.com/groups/174497379327599 where members can post their training rides to get others involved, ask for advice, give wrap ups of races and promote the sport of cycling! To become a member, drop in to Prince Cycles on campus or email the club at [email protected]. The purposes of MUcyc are to:
(a) encourage, promote, and advance participation in, and enjoyment of, cycling within the community of the University of Melbourne and the surrounding community;
(b) facilitate members’ participation in cycling (including but not limited to training activities and competitions). (c) conduct cycle racing competition for all registered members in an orderly, fair, harmonious and social atmosphere;
(d) represent the University of Melbourne at intervarsity sporting competitions;
(e) strive for commercial and public recognition of the Association; and
(f) represent the interests of members in any appropriate forum in Victoria and Australia.

Hi everyone,

A huge thank you to everyone who put their hand up and applied for the Social & Media Ride Leader position. We really appreciate the time, enthusiasm and effort that went into your applications.

After several days of exploring and considering all the fantastic candidates, we’re excited to announce that we’ve selected Matt Harris for the role.

Matt is an international student from Canada, currently completing his teaching degree at the University of Melbourne. We’re really looking forward to having his energy, enthusiasm and fresh ideas on board as we head into the next chapter.

Thanks again to everyone who applied — we had some great people come forward, and we genuinely appreciate your interest in getting involved.

Keep an eye out for plenty of social rides, events and good times ahead. We’re excited to see what Matt brings to the group!

🚴 Love riding? Love a bit of banter? Fancy getting paid to help grow the club?

We’re looking for one legend to take the lead on our social rides and help get more students out on their bikes.

So, what’s the gig?

🚴 Run one chilled social ride each week. Nothing too serious — just a good ride, good people and plenty of laughs. Whether someone is new to cycling or already smashing out the kilometres, everyone should feel welcome.

📱 Keep the club socials alive with a few photos, videos and posts. No need to be a content creator or social media wizard — just show people what the club is all about and why they should get involved.

🎓 Help spread the word around campus and encourage more students to join up, whether they’re keen on social rides, racing, or just getting back on the bike.

What’s in it for you?

💰 There’s a small stipend of $### to recognise the time and effort you put into the role.

You’ll also meet new people, build some handy leadership skills, have a bit of fun and play a big part in growing the club.

You don’t need to be an elite rider, own all the fancy gear or have thousands of followers. If you’re reliable, enjoy a ride, don’t mind having a chat and can get people excited about joining in, you could be exactly who we’re after.

first podium for Matt Harris new mucyc member , well done matt.
A-Grade’s race saw 22-year-old Canadian Matt Harris just ride away on lap one and never see the bunch again; the Canadian, who is here to get his Masters in Teaching at Melbourne Uni, just powering away. ‘I have just come over from Canada to study; I was riding the Domestic Conti scene in North America, and this is my fourth race out down under! When I went I was kinda hoping someone would come across, but I got to do my threshold efforts out there. I love this track because you can pretty much pedal all the way around so it’s super flowing. I wanted to average 40, but I only got to 39.5!’ Harris took the lonely win, with Matty Hargreaves and Jason Costin rounding out the podium.
