Hockey Australia has recognised some of the sport’s most dedicated and influential contributors, announcing four new Life Members and four recipients of the Award of Merit at its annual AGM.

The awards celebrate individuals whose exceptional service, leadership and commitment have helped shape hockey in Australia across administration, officiating, coaching, governance, high performance and grassroots development.

Hockey Australia has welcomed funding from the Australian Sports Commission’s investment through the Play Well and Win Well programs, including funding for high-performance through to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games and a maximum Play Well Classification of 10 out of 10.

Hockey Australia thanks the Australian Sports Commission and the Australian Institute of Sport for their ongoing partnership and support as we strive for success on the international stage and continue building sustainable pathways for future generations of Australian hockey players.

The first concrete has been poured and the first bricks laid at the Australian Hockey Centre - marking a major milestone in this transformational project. 🧱

To celebrate, we brought Jeremy Hayward and Kaitlin Nobbs down to site to make sure everything was running smoothly.

Australia A men finish on a high, closing out the series against China in style 👏

Australia made an early statement, with Duncan Jackson striking in the opening minutes to set the tone. China responded strongly, taking control with goals in the 26th and 35th minutes to hit the front.

However, Australia swung the momentum back in emphatic fashion, scoring three goals in 11 minutes to turn the game on its head and build a 4–2 lead.

Both sides traded late goals in the final quarter, with Ian Grobbelaar sealing the result as Australia A ran out 5–3 winners and secured a 2–1 series victory.

China claimed a 3–1 win over Australia A last night, capitalising on key moments across the match.

China struck early to take control, adding a second before half time to put Australia under pressure. A third goal just after the break extended the margin, leaving Australia chasing the game.

Australia found a late response through Daykin Stanger in the 53rd minute, but China’s earlier work proved decisive as they closed out the result.

Australia A secured the win in Game 2 against China on the Gold Coast.

Duncan Jackson made it two goals in as many matches, opening the scoring in the 21st minute to give Australia the lead. It took another 21 minutes to double their advantage, with skipper Dylan Downey finding the back of the net to make it 2–0.

China responded just before three-quarter time, with Du pulling one back in the 44th minute. However, Tasmanian Oscar Sproule restored Australia’s buffer with five minutes remaining, extending the lead to 3–1. Wang added a late goal for China in the 57th minute, but it proved to be only a consolation.

China – 2 (Du 44', Wang 57')
