Throwback to the time I snapped a front axle winding it onto the front straight. This happened the weekend before the mower was due to go on the truck to head across the country for the All Australian Mower titles in 2024. To this day there is still a skid mark on the hood from the wheel of one of the other mowers scraping by as I was nose down a$$ up.

This is Quades Super Mod John Deere Stx-30. It has a KTM Duke 390 under the hood. Pushing out 45hp, this mower likes to break things. The Premier Cut Machine Shop has already machined up a new rear axel a couple months ago.. This time ive just finished a new Jack shaft set up for it after it snapped clean in half at the last race meet in Bunbury.
As you can see in the second pic, the heat from the weld created a weak spot in the shaft and after months of abuse from Quade it finally gave in. So this time Quade opted for a mechanical keyway setup instead, in an effort to prolong the life of the driveline. Looking forward to seeing it back out on track being absolutely sent!
