🏀 LANG PARK HISTORY 🏀

A fantastic piece of Queensland basketball history!

This photo features the 1966 Queensland Under 18 Girls Basketball Team that competed at the inaugural Australian Championships in Adelaide. The team finished third overall, narrowly missing a place in the final on points differential.

We're especially proud to recognise Sandra Hepburn, an ex-Lang Park Basketball Club player, who represented Queensland in this historic team.

Sandra went on to make a significant contribution to basketball in Queensland and remains an important part of our club's rich history. It's wonderful to reflect on the achievements of those who helped pave the way for future generations of players.

This year marks 60 years since Queensland’s inaugural Under 18 Women’s team competed at the first-ever Australian Junior Championships in Adelaide.

Led by coach Delma Behm and captain Lyn McGrath, the team finished with a Bronze Medal and helped pave the way for generations of Queensland athletes to follow. 👏

We proudly recognise the players, coaches and staff whose dedication helped build the rich history of basketball in Queensland. ❤️

Future Basketball Academy is excited to announce that NBL Champion Shaun Bruce will be joining us as our special guest coach at our upcoming Holiday Camp on Saturday 27 June at Sleeman Sports Centre!

Shaun recently won the NBL Championship with the Sydney Kings and is currently starring in NBL1. He brings a wealth of experience, leadership and basketball knowledge, and we're thrilled to provide our players with the opportunity to learn from one of Australia's elite guards.

This exclusive workshop will focus on:
✅ Basketball IQ & decision-making
✅ Shooting development
✅ Leadership mentality
✅ Game film analysis
✅ Player Q&A session

A highlight of the camp will be a special film analysis session, where Shaun will break down game footage and demonstrate how he studies film to improve his own performance. This unique insight into the mindset and habits of an elite player will be invaluable for young athletes looking to take their game to the next level.
