Semi Finals
A stunning night for tennis with next to no wind. The stakes were high, and it was clear which teams were the best after the night. In the Seniors Torrita played Timberoo, and in the other matchup Speed played Kulwin. In the Teens’ Kiamal played Torrita, and Timberoo played Speed in the second matchup.
Seniors:
Torrita v Timberoo:
The best team in the competition was looking to seal a Grand Final spot against an in-form Timberoo team. In the Ladies/Mixed section it was Torrita who dominated, winning the section 24-10. In the Men’s it was another win for Torrita, 19-17, to lead 43-27. It was looking like Paul Dean’s Timberoo were going to fall, which made his comments, ‘We’re going to obliterate everyone in our path, flag Timberoo’, look very bad. In the Mixed Torrita came out on top winning the section 21-19, to win 64-46. There were no three-set winners for Timberoo, but for Torrita, Scott Brady, Nigel Hamilton, Lexi Munro, and Laura Pirrie were all three-set winners.
Torrita, 9-sets, 64-games defeated Timberoo, 3-sets, 46-games.
Speed v Kulwin:
Teams placed 2nd and 3rd performed a partially close matchup. In the Ladies/Mixed, Speed started hot winning 24-17. In the Men’s Kulwin hit back, taking the section 18-16, to trail Speed 40-35. In the Mixed, it got back to a one-game matchup with Kulwin winning the first two matches, but then Speed responded to win the section 21-18, to win 61-53. Three-set winners included Speed’s Liam Blume, and Kulwin’s Joseph Brady.
Speed, 7-sets, 61-games defeated Kulwin, 5-sets, 53-games.
Teens’:
Kiamal v Torrita:
Kiamal the top team were looking to respond to last week's loss against this very team, Torrita. Kiamal hit back hard, smashing Torrita, 40-27. All three-set winners came from Kiamal, and they were Brooklyn Singleton and Indianna Allender.
Kiamal, 6-sets 40-games, defeated Torrita, 2-sets, 27-games.
Timberoo v Speed:
An extremely competitive matchup was displayed between Timberoo and Speed. In the end, it was Speed who prevailed, 48-42. All three-set winners came from Speed, and they were Zach Charles and Keely O’Shannessy.
Timberoo, 2-sets, 42-games defeated by Speed, 6-sets, 48-games.
Grand Final:
The last week of tennis for the summer of 25/26. It has been a great season that involved tweaks to the competition's format. Next week will involve Torrita and Speed for the Senior premiership, and Kiamal and Speed for the new Teens’ premiership. It should be another great night for tennis.
