Grand Final

On a cool, windswept night in Ouyen, the 2025/26 Senior and Teens’ tennis season came to a dramatic close, with grand final glory decided by the narrowest of margins - the final point. Torrita played Speed in a mesmerising grand final for the Senior premiership, whilst in the Teens’, Speed and Kiamal played a fantastic grand final too.

Seniors:

Torrita v Speed:
Wow, what a grand final! Torrita and Speed played an all-time great final, which had a tense finish. In the Ladies/Mixed, Torrita came out on top, 23-21. In the Men’s, Torrita again prevailed, 19-15, to have a 42-36 advantage. In the Mixed, Speed turned it around, but was it enough? The last match of the night, 6-6, and overall score, 59-60, the winner of the tiebreak would go on to win the grand final, and in the end, that was Speed who prevailed. To give the reader a bit more context, Torrita had finished 1st at the completion of the regular season, therefore a win in the tiebreaker would make the score 60-all, meaning Torrita would triumph due to them having a higher finishing position. Obviously, that wasn’t the case. The only three-set winners were Torrita’s Paddy Sherry and Speed’s Tanya Doyle. What a great season it was, with Speed achieving the ultimate goal.
Torrita, 5-sets 59-games, defeated by Speed, 7-sets, 61-games.

Teens’:

Kiamal v Speed:
The newly innovated Teens’ competition had a thrilling finish, with the matchup being decided in the last set. It was back and forth all night, with the scores being 31-30, favouring Kiamal going into the last set. In the end, it was an anticlimactic finish, with Speed winning the last set 6-2, to give them a 36-33 game win. The only three-set winners were Speed’s 1 and 2, Will Pole and Zach Charles. The newly innovated Teens’ competition seemed to be a success, with a thrilling finale to cap it all off.
Kiamal, 3-sets, 33-games, defeated by Speed, 5-sets, 36-games.

With another season in the books, the stage is already set for what promises to be an equally exciting 2026-27 campaign.

Semi Finals

A stunning night for tennis with next to no wind. The stakes were high, and it was clear which teams were the best after the night. In the Seniors Torrita played Timberoo, and in the other matchup Speed played Kulwin. In the Teens’ Kiamal played Torrita, and Timberoo played Speed in the second matchup.

Seniors:

Torrita v Timberoo:

The best team in the competition was looking to seal a Grand Final spot against an in-form Timberoo team. In the Ladies/Mixed section it was Torrita who dominated, winning the section 24-10. In the Men’s it was another win for Torrita, 19-17, to lead 43-27. It was looking like Paul Dean’s Timberoo were going to fall, which made his comments, ‘We’re going to obliterate everyone in our path, flag Timberoo’, look very bad. In the Mixed Torrita came out on top winning the section 21-19, to win 64-46. There were no three-set winners for Timberoo, but for Torrita, Scott Brady, Nigel Hamilton, Lexi Munro, and Laura Pirrie were all three-set winners.

Torrita, 9-sets, 64-games defeated Timberoo, 3-sets, 46-games.

Speed v Kulwin:

Teams placed 2nd and 3rd performed a partially close matchup. In the Ladies/Mixed, Speed started hot winning 24-17. In the Men’s Kulwin hit back, taking the section 18-16, to trail Speed 40-35. In the Mixed, it got back to a one-game matchup with Kulwin winning the first two matches, but then Speed responded to win the section 21-18, to win 61-53. Three-set winners included Speed’s Liam Blume, and Kulwin’s Joseph Brady.

Speed, 7-sets, 61-games defeated Kulwin, 5-sets, 53-games.

Teens’:

Kiamal v Torrita:

Kiamal the top team were looking to respond to last week's loss against this very team, Torrita. Kiamal hit back hard, smashing Torrita, 40-27. All three-set winners came from Kiamal, and they were Brooklyn Singleton and Indianna Allender.

Kiamal, 6-sets 40-games, defeated Torrita, 2-sets, 27-games.

Timberoo v Speed:

An extremely competitive matchup was displayed between Timberoo and Speed. In the end, it was Speed who prevailed, 48-42. All three-set winners came from Speed, and they were Zach Charles and Keely O’Shannessy.

Timberoo, 2-sets, 42-games defeated by Speed, 6-sets, 48-games.

Grand Final:

The last week of tennis for the summer of 25/26. It has been a great season that involved tweaks to the competition's format. Next week will involve Torrita and Speed for the Senior premiership, and Kiamal and Speed for the new Teens’ premiership. It should be another great night for tennis.

Hi everyone,

A Yonex Ezone charcoal tennis racquet with a used white grip has gone missing from behind the bar in the clubhouse.

It’s quite an expensive racquet, so we’re hoping it may have been picked up by mistake and not yet returned. If you or someone you know has it, we’d really appreciate it being brought back to the club.

The owner would love to have it returned - no questions asked.

Thanks everyone 🙏

Update… Racket returned, thanks to the person who brought it back.
