Ouyen Golf Report
A late change in the syllabus due to a large number of golfers being unavailable due to cropping or various other reasons saw the Sunday competition being changed from the Captains v Presidents day to a Single Stableford competition.
The Captains V Presidents day will be played at a later date.
Pretty good weather greeted golfers with a stiff north easterly breeze which swung around to a North westerly as the day went on made scoring tricky. However if you were good enough a reasonable winning score was very getable for anyone who was good enough on the day.
A small field of just 10 competed with the winner being Paul Dean with a score of 35. Runners up was Dallas Plant with a score of 32.
There was one nearest the pin, and that was Nigel Hamilton on 14.
Next week with it being Mother’s Day, and with the Ouyen Pacing cup being on there will be no competition. So enjoy Mother’s Day and get along and enjoy a day at the trots. The following Sunday is the Johnstone memorial mixed American competition, our first honour board event of the season. There will also be a Single Stableford competition run in conjunction with this.

Announcement!!

OUYEN GOLF CLUB - Syllabus Update

Captain vs President matchplay this Sunday has been swapped with the Single Stableford scheduled for 21 June, as both the Captain and President are unavailable this Sunday.

This Sunday will now be Single Stableford, with matchplay moved to 21 June.

Ouyen Golf Report
Perfect weather once again greeted golfers with a good field of 29 golfers taking part in the Sunraysia golf range sponsored 4bbb.
Ethan Munro and Ryan Mckay had a day out which I’m sure the handicapper will keep in mind when they next play. They had a ripper score of 50 to win the day.
Runners up were the pair of Peter Brady and Bruce Cooper who also shot a fantastic score of 47.
The unfortunate NAGA winners were Scott Brady and Liam Hamilton with a score of 32.
Nearest the pins were Barry Gregg on 2 (made the birdie putt) Scott Brady on 5 and Deane Munro on 16.
A few lowlights and highlights that the fine tin was required for included Scott Brady shanking one off the 2nd tee, narrowly missing a parked car (Nick Coe if you’re reading this you almost had a golf ball dent in your car) and almost ending up in the water of the lake.
Another lowlight was Spot Munro slamming one into a tree and the ball ending up 70 meters behind him.
A great highlight was the ageless Kevin Jones chipping in from 30 meters off the sand/green.
This Sunday is Captains v President match play day. Assembly 11.30 for a midday start

Ouyen Golf Report
Perfect weather conditions greeted golfers for the opening day of the season for 2026.
Texas stableford was the format, 20 players came making the numbers perfect for 5 groups of 4.
The winning group was the group of Deane Munro, Jack Morrish, Adam Grace and Brent Morrish. They had a score of 144.
There was a tie for 2nd with the group of Scott Brady, Paul Dean, Nick Vine and Gil Grace shooting the same score of 123 as the group of Lorey Rogers, Percy Burns, Peter Brady and Kevin Jones.
This Sunday is the Sunraysia golf range sponsored 4bbb, own partners. So round yourself up a partner and get along.

And the Golf course is now officially open and all set for play.
After a huge couple of working bees, not to mention the constant work that get done all the time by our trusty volunteers the course is looking good.
We have replaced the sands on the sand greens with coarser sand, we look forward to seeing how that goes.
This Sunday is open day. The competition played will be Texas Stableford. Draw for partners. It’s a good format, similar to Ambrose. We played it opening day last season and was enjoyed by all.
Assembly is 11.30 for a midday start.

Working bee!!!
Tomorrow morning 9am.
To put new sand on the sand greens. Also a general tidy up around the course.
Bring any equipment you may think will be useful.
Meet at the mower sheds.

It’s all happening at the golf course as we get things ready for the start of the season.
April 19 will be opening day, so lock that in.
Today’s working bee a team removed all of the old sand off the sand/greens to prepare them for fresh new sand.
While this was going on another team got rid some fallen dead tree branches, still plenty of them to get rid of.
Plenty still to be done, next working bee will be Sunday April 12.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING - Change of Venue

Due to tomorrow's forecast of 49 degrees the Ouyen Golf Club AGM will be relocated to the Ouyen Club at 7.00 pm. All welcome.
