Yesterday we took on the Central Otago Motorsport Club Little Valley Rallysprint in Alexandra, a great event all ‘round, cheers to the club and the volunteers for making it happen. It was also the last round of The Deep South Rallysprint Series thanks to Stephen, Jason and the Hawkeswood Mining team for an awesome championship!

This was a very challenging road, with us competing up and down getting 3 runs each way. We had some tight corners and a few close calls but managed to pull it together for the last run to get a good time up and down! Safe to say our skills were definitely tested, but a great feeling to finish the event and complete our first season!

I am really excited to have won first in class B for the event, placed 6th overall and 1st equal in the Championship with Barry Mills. We were also 4th fastest car down the road! Some really great battles, roads, and laughs this season and I cannot wait to see what we can achieve in season 2!

A really huge thank you to my supporters and sponsors for backing me this year and helping us get back on our feet after Otago and Southland Rallies. To India Brown for jumping in and getting right into the notes it has been fantastic competing together and watching you ace it. Also a thank you to Mum and Dad for leasing the Es**rt this season but also for coming out to every event, helping out and cheering us on!

Looks like little Josh 20 years ago knew this was possible! See the same car right before dad built it to what it is today!

Can’t wait to get out on gravel at this historic event!

Cromwell based Josh Cooper is a mechanic at Paddon Rallysport. He is competing at the rallysprint for the first time and is driving a Rally spec 1995 Subaru Impreza. Josh has competed in circuit racing, autocrosses and started rallying this year, competing in the Otago and Southland Rallies to date. He is the current New Zealand Clubsport Champion. Josh's memorable moment is competing in his first rally, which he describes as a big learning curve but he loved it.

Josh would like to thank Hayden Paddon for giving him this opportunity and to his season sponsors and a big thanks to his fiancé and family for their support.

Woo! What a weekend!
South Otago Car Clubs’ Catlins 2 day Rallysprint really lived up to the expectations. With around 10k of stage each day we got to run over some fantastic bits of road including a few tricky corners! We came away with 3rd in class, so super happy with that. Great to test the car out after its repairs and get some more practice in with our notes. Thanks to everyone for an amazing event, and to our crew and supporters!
