Empower-Her Session 1 wrapped last night. The women who turned up made it a warm room from the first minute.

One thing worth naming from last night: not everyone got to the mat the same way.

Some booked because they'd been thinking about it for a while and finally owned the truth that they needed it. That's the
harder path — sitting with the need, then sending that DM.

Some booked because someone else brought them. One told us last night she came because her teenage daughter said "mum,
you're coming with me." Two generations, one Session 1.

Both are legitimate ways in. Not every path to the mat has to be a solo decision.

Five more Monday evenings from here. If you saw the campaign last week but didn't make it in time — Session 1 was a gentle
introduction, you can be brought up to speed next Monday.

Message us if you want in, or if you want to
come with someone.

This is the final Empower-Her for 2026. If next Monday still doesn't work, message us anyway — we'll add you to the list for
early 2027.

13 women finished this Empower-Her course. This is them at the end of six weeks.

Here's what many of them conveyed: the hardest part was before they even got to the dojo. The hardest part was admitting what they already knew, and sending the DM.

The rest is serious fun. (Pun intended.) Real training, small group, women who quickly stop being strangers. Most people wonder afterwards why they waited so long.

Empower-Her starts tonight at 7pm at the dojo in Osborne Park.

If today's the day you send the DM — before 6pm and your spot is held.

This is the final course for 2026.

Is this the week you actually do the self-defence course you've been thinking about?

Empower-Her starts tomorrow evening at 7pm at the dojo in Osborne Park.

Small group. Six Monday evenings. Room for one or two more.

If today feels like the day to decide — message us and we'll hold your spot.

If you've been on the fence for a while, worth remembering: six Mondays goes faster than it sounds. And this course is for who you are today — not a fitter version of you. As you are is just fine.

Not sure if they'd fit in. Not sure what to say. Not sure if they'd be the only one their age. Not sure about the male instructor.

Session one of Empower-Her starts with wrist escapes — someone holds your wrist, you practise breaking the hold.

The pace is slow. The contact is controlled. Most students have never been physically grabbed by a stranger, even in a training context, and the course is deliberately structured around that.

By session two, what was unfamiliar starts to feel like training.

Something we've noticed running Empower-Her over the years — the women in the room aren't who most people expect.

Some in their twenties. Some in their forties, fifties, sixties.
Some who've done a martial art before, most who haven't. Some booked alone, some brought a friend or a daughter, some came because their mother did the last course.

Small group means we teach at a pace that works for whoever's actually there. Not a set curriculum you have to keep up with — the technique is adapted to you, how you actually are today.

Six Monday evenings. Starting soon. If you've wondered whether you'd fit — usually the answer is yes.

At Self Defence Central Dojo we emphasis practical self defence, mental toughness, fun skill-building, and a supportive, diverse community.

We offer children only classes, women's only classes, teen/adult classes and classes where parents and their children can train together.

This is what the week looks like at Self Defence Central Dojo.

Classes every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. Kids, teens, adults, women-only. Small groups — maximum 12 students per class.

First Principles — our 4-week beginners Jujutsu course — lesson two of four is Monday 7pm. There is still time to join this beginner course , we revise last weeks lesson before moving on to new content. Message me if you'd like to be included.

If you've martial arts experience already, DM we will figure out the right class for you..
