To the people who have been asking for gym advice lately, I thought I may as well do a full recap for those who are just starting off and are feeling lost!

Here are my Top 10 Tips for beginners in the gym, or even those who are experienced that just need a refresher.

Remember that training and nutrition is a lifestyle change, something new to add to your current routine. Not just a temporary fix - and like that, you will keep it!

Many of us are lacking in Magnesium and we females in particular could really use it to our advantage on our monthly days.

Anyone else have this awesome machine in their gym and have tried it?

The Pendulum Squat is one of my favourite piece of equipment at Shredded, although it realllly pushes you. I love it especially on the days where Iโ€™d rather use this than to squat with a normal barbell ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคซ

PROS:
โœ”๏ธ Allows for a very deep squat
โœ”๏ธ Quads, hamstrings and glutes all worked
โœ”๏ธ Less pressure on the back and knees compared to a BB squat
โœ”๏ธ Back rests on a pad = less chance of having bad form
โœ”๏ธ Can load more weight on just like a normal BB squat, though a little goes a long way

If you ever get to come across this amazing piece of equipment, itโ€™s a must try.

Talk about not realising how much youโ€™ve changed. I still have a ways to go in terms of leaning up, but am not doing so bad so to say. Although that Summer tan surely did help ๐Ÿ‘€

CURRENT GOAL: Tighten up and uncover whatโ€™s underneath - taking the steady, maintainable route. Lost a little ๐Ÿ‘ in the process too but thatโ€™s fine as Iโ€™ll start getting all my gains back once I start the bulking phase.

This was all done through weightlifting so ladies, please get rid of the idea that lifting weights make you bulky!! It just shapes and sculpts your body amazingly ๐Ÿฅฐ

Juices can be amazing for you, and many people would think that fruit & veggie juice = obviously healthy!! ๐Ÿฅฌ๐Ÿฅ•๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ‹ but really, they can also be completely loaded with sugar, some containing as much sugar as a soft drink.

Though they are natural sugars with more vitamins and minerals, too much of a good thing is not great and the can lead to excess calorie intake that lead to weight gain.

Additionally, overconsumption can increase your risk of Type 2 Diabetes. So the next time you are thinking of buying a fruit & veg smoothie or juice, choose wisely, and make sure you check the nutrition label when you can ๐Ÿงƒ๐Ÿงƒ

JUNE 2020 โ†’ OCTOBER 2020 (4 months apart) after I started taking weightlifting to the next level.

Not the best comparison pics but you can tell I have packed on some muscle ๐Ÿฅฐ

I used to think: โ€œIโ€™m cutting and eating less, so thereโ€™s no way I could possibly lift that heavyโ€. Little did I know that I was just putting a barrier on myself.

Several PBโ€™S later -
160kg hip thrusts
70kg squats
150kg leg presses
100kg deadlifts
I did NOT imagine I could push that much weight whilst cutting.

Mind blown and amazed at what my own body is capable of. Thanks to my coach at the time for showing me what is achievable and it made me realise that mindset is everything.

Do the hard work and you will get out what you put in.
