Today was for Lily. Always. ππ
A message from Jess C, Send it Coach and CYMS Netball President.
Today was a beautiful reminder of what community is all about.
To every player, coach, umpire, volunteer, supporter, family member and friend who wore green, joined the chant, shared a hug, shed a tear, or simply stood with us today. Thank you!
The sea of green across the Orange Netball courts was a powerful tribute to Lily Kelly and a reflection of the impact she had on so many people during her short 15 years of life.
A special thank you to Orange Netball Association for embracing this day and helping us honour Lily in such a meaningful way.
Thank you to Tammy and Kim for officiating the Send It game, and to The Life Studio Shooting Stars for taking the court against Send It and being part of such a special moment.
To Dana, Mikaela, Cass and the whole ONA committee thank you for your support, patience and countless conversations throughout the week to help bring this tribute together. Thank you also to the CYMS Netball Committee, whose support and assistance behind the scenes made today possible, as usually you are all a force to be reckoned with.
To those who came along today, even if netball isnβt usually your thing, thank you. Your presence meant more than youβll ever know.
And while the scoreboard may not have gone Send Itβs way, it really didnβt matter. Lily wouldnβt have minded one bit. Iβm am so proud of each one of you. Today was never about the result. It was about honouring a teammate, a friend and a much-loved member of our netball family.
Most importantly, thank you to everyone who helped ensure that today was truly for Lily.
As we reflect on the day, we encourage those who are willing and able to donate blood or plasma β gifts that helped support Lily throughout her illness. We also encourage everyone to consider organ donation and, most importantly, to have a conversation with your family and loved ones about your wishes.
Today showed just how strong our netball community is and how deeply Lily was loved.
Today was for Lily. Always. ππ #ππ
