Astley Cup 100 Years - Orange High School

Celebrating our glorious win, we held our Astley Cup assembly this morning. During our the assembly, one of our girls soccer captains, Ellie Tamatea announced that she would follow through with her promise. To have the coaches of each team shave her hair off if we brought the cup home on the 100th year. Here’s some footage of our Athletics coach making the first pass with the clippers

🏆RESULTS DAY TWO - BATHURST🏆
What an experience! You will not find that anywhere else, that’s for sure. The spirit and passion that drove our teams to victory was something else.

Tennis started the day off, and fought their hardest! They showed up and played amazing. With phenomenal rallies and some outstanding backhands, our boys and girls showed Bathurst what we’ve got to bring! Unfortunately our tennis came down to a loss of 5-7 sets (42-58 cup points).

Athletics dominated on the track and the field. Placing first or second in every single event! The energy was insane and all of our supporters got behind them! Scoring a total of 72-26 cup points, coming out on top!!!

Girls soccer took the field, with Jade Armstrong scoring early in the first half. Giving the girls a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately Bathurst got 3 in the net after our girls and the girls went down to a 1-3 (25-75 cup points) loss. The dedication and passion that the girls had really the had the crowds going.

Our boys soccer brought it home for us this year. Heading into the second half, down 2-0. Ayden Barnes put one in the net, keeping us in the game. The boys defended with everything they had and played with heart and guts. A final score of 2-1 (67-33 cup points) Bathurst way, secured us the cup.

Crowds erupted, spilling over the top of the fences, coming down stairs, from sheds, and cars, that winning feeling set in and the Barmy Army began. ‘Loud and proud’ is a HUGE understatement. Today was a day no one will forget!

OMG! What a feeling! Orange has brought the cup home once again, on the 100th year. Could it get much better than this?!?!?!? The spirit and pride that ran through our crowds were insane! WE’VE DONE IT AGAIN!

OHS IS BARRRRRMMMYYYY ARMMMYYYYYY!!!!!

The school claimed a narrow 405-393 victory in the tie.
