Indian Ocean Reining & Western Performance Club Inc Affiliate of the NRHA - National Reining Horse Association

Founded in 1966, the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of the reining horse in a fun-filled, family atmosphere. It serves as the standard setting body for the sport of reining worldwide.

​The Indian Ocean Reining & Western Performance Club Inc. (IORWPC) was founded in 2022 with the chief mission to promote the equine sport of reining

and encourage the showing of reining horses in Western Australia. Its key objectives are to:

- encourage the development and public interest in reining horse shows through the promotion of public competition, public exhibitions, merchandise and printed material
- support proper standards of performance and judging
- offer coaching and competitive opportunities in the sport of reining
- promote the club within Western Australia and Australian communities
- ensure a duty of care to all members of the club and animal welfare
- provide all its services in a way that is fair to everyone
- ensure all present and future members receive fair and equal treatment
- encourage the development and breeding of reining horses
- ensure and to maintain suitable standards of professional conduct for providing a fun
filled, family orientated atmosphere

What a glorious day we had for our “Have a Go Show” yesterday.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported the day. We really appreciate you being there and helping make it such a great event.

A very special thank you to Karen Nicoletto for judging all the runs throughout the day. We truly appreciate your time and expertise!

Congratulations to all those who won fuel cards in our random name draw for competitors.

Our next event is a Club Day on September 19th, so we hope to see you all there!

Indian Ocean Reining AGM - Saturday 15 August 2026

Our Annual General Meeting will be held at 12:30pm on Saturday the 15th August - during the lunch break of our Have A Go Show at Karinya Equestrian Park.

To contribute to the AGM, including having your say and participating in any decisions, your 2026/2027 membership must be competed before the meeting.

Members who are unable to attend in person will be able to join online through our current members messenger group. Please let us know if you would like to attend virtually. A message with the online meeting details will be posted in the group approximately 30 minutes before the AGM begins.

We encourage all members to get involved - this is your club, your voice and our future.

A huge thank you to our committee for putting together this extra Training & Practice Pattern Day. What a fantastic day it was!

The relaxed and supportive atmosphere gave everyone a great opportunity to run patterns, build confidence, and gain valuable experience and knowledge to help prepare both horse and rider for the show pen.

It was especially great to see so many young horses out gaining experience. This type of event provides the perfect environment for them to learn, grow, and develop in a calm, positive setting.

A huge thank you also to Jacinta for attending and providing coaching throughout the day, as well as judging all of the afternoon runs. Jacinta generously gave feedback and tips after each run, which is incredibly valuable and greatly appreciated by all participants.

Thank you to everyone who came along and made the day such a success. We look forward to seeing you all at the next one!
