Tassie Tin Tops 2026 run and done.
The emotion that is Motorsport is a fickle beast. After a practice day a few weeks back with my mate Mr Logan, I thought we were going to the Tintops to bolster the field and have a car in the pits for people to talk about. The field was just that strong.
Race 1 was dry and our lack of power was exposed but our reliability was awesome. Plenty of cars fell over and we finished 3rd in class and 16th overall from 26th on grid. Not great but ok.
Race 2 was wet. With the whole field wheel spinning and skidding around us, Brutus and his bu**er all power just kept on trucking. A car in the wall (Tim) potentially cost us the win as we came home 2nd in class and 11th overall.
2 races down. 2nd overall. Suddenly we’re a chance. The swagger is back. We still haven’t put a spanner on the Ute.
Race 3 Sunday. Wetter. Can’t wipe the smile off my dial. Perfect. Starting right behind the class leader I was confident. That is until 3 laps in the clutch decided to leave the chat. S**t. Flat shifting a synchro box isn’t recommended but we nursed it home for 3rd with some pretty agricultural driving.
Race 4 was a drying track. It was pretty ugly to be honest and our lack of power was just starting to get exposed again when the race was red flagged with no points. Got out of jail.
So we went from expecting nothing to the dream of winning to coming home with a trophy.
The car mechanically is bullet proof. The clutch was a fluid based issue that just needs some preventative maintenance otherwise stoked with it.
To the crew how came and helped

Dunno what we’ll do next. The Ute could pop up anywhere.
