Meet our MVP, J***y. He mows the grass, blows the leaves, chops the firewood. He is Mr Fix It and the lifter of all heavy things, and still finds time to be our ski instructor, transfer driver, provider of silly jokes, sage advice, rocket ship rides, and the warmest hugs. Be sure to say ‘hey’ when you see him getting around the property doing his jobs, he loves a chat, and we love him! Happy Father’s Day weekend to all the doting dads out there, but especially this one! 🖤

So after three years of waiting and work, we’re stoked to share that the lifts at Selwyn Snow Resort will finally start spinning again on June 23. See you there! 🤙🏼

It’s the world’s newest snow resort, with Australia’s only fully accessible guest facilities centre, and a toboggan park with the largest magic carpet in the southern hemisphere - just a few things we learned about Selwyn Snow Resort after chatting with managing director Lucy Blyton-Gray in the lead up to the resort’s long awaited reopening on June 10. Always changing, always enchanting. Lake Eucumbene rises and falls as water is stored and released by the Snowy Hyrdo, so the scenery is never quite the same.

For those who don’t know much about Lake Eucumbene, this is a great little explainer from Snowy Hydro:

“A picturesque powerhouse!

Lake Eucumbene, located in Australia's Snowy Mountains, is not just a breathtaking sight, it's also a critical part of the mighty Snowy Scheme. The lake stores water that is used to generate clean and reliable energy, powering homes and businesses across the country.

Lake Eucumbene is the main long-term storage for the Snowy Scheme. When full, it has a capacity of 4,800 gigalitres, or nine times the size of Sydney Harbour! Lake Eucumbene rises and falls very slowly over multiple years as water is stored and released. Construction of the dam was completed in May 1958.”
