Incontinence is more common than many people realise, but it is still something many feel uncomfortable talking about.

In Australia alone, over 7.2 million people were living with incontinence in 2023, and this is expected to rise to 8.6 million by 2032.

And yet, many of the day-to-day signs get brushed off as “just normal”.

Things like rushing to the toilet, planning outings around bathroom access, or feeling unsure or worried about leaks during exercise.

We want to help shift that conversation, especially this World Continence Week.

Because while these experiences are common, they are not something you need to simply accept or manage on your own.

With the right support, many people notice real, meaningful improvement.

At Women’s Health Hub, we are here to talk it through with you, help you understand what is going on, and guide you towards the support that is right for you.

Let’s make conversations about incontinence easier, more informed and more supported.

You deserve to feel informed, supported and confident in your body 🌸

Chronic back pain doesn’t always mean you need to “brace your core” all the time 💡

Recent research suggests there isn’t one “correct” way to activate your core, and constantly bracing or tensing your muscles may not always be necessary for chronic back pain.

For many people, learning to:
✨ move more freely
✨ breathe through positions
✨ improve mobility, and
✨ reduce muscle hypertonicity
can feel more supportive and sustainable.

These exercises by Mikayla focus on movement, mobility, and helping the body relax into positions 💪

Important: This information is for general educational purposes only and should not replace medical advice.

If you’re unsure what movements are best for your body or pain, you can speak with our physiotherapists, Mikayla or Alicia, for personalised guidance 🤍

Pregnancy asks your body to stretch, soften, adapt, and grow in ways you may never have experienced before. Along the way, some changes can feel surprising, especially the ones no one really talks about.

One of the most common changes we see during and after pregnancy is abdominal separation, also known as diastasis recti.

Read full blog 👇

Your core changes more than you think during pregnancy, and abdominal separation (diastasis recti) is one of the most common, yet least talked about. It can show up as doming, a “pooch,” back discomfort, or core weakness after birth. The good news? It’s not something you “caused,” and it c...

“Are TENS machines actually safe to use during labour?”

We get asked this question a lot by women preparing for birth, especially those who are exploring more natural or drug-free ways to manage labour pain.

And YES — when used correctly, TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) machines are safe for both you and the baby.

Many women find TENS helpful in early labour, whether at home or in the hospital. It can be a supportive tool to help you manage contractions and, for some, reduce or delay the need for stronger pain relief options.

A few reasons why we often recommend it:
✅ No drowsiness or medication-related side effects
✅ Non-invasive, so no needles, injections, or internal devices
✅ You stay in control, thanks to the handheld design and boost button!

A few important things to know though — TENS is not suitable:
❌ Before 37 weeks of pregnancy, unless under medical supervision
❌ On broken or irritated skin
❌ If you have a pacemaker or certain heart conditions, always check with your doctor first
❌ In the shower or bath. They’re sadly not waterproof 😅

If you’re wondering whether a TENS machine might be right for your birth, or you’d like some guidance on how to use one, we’re always happy to talk it through.

We have Obstetric TENS machines available for hire and can help you choose the one that feels right for you and your birth journey 🌸

Here’s a gentle reminder to check in with your body.

Sometimes it’s not just a “random ache.” Pelvic discomfort can be your body’s way of holding onto stress, tension, or something that hasn’t had the space to release.

A heaviness in the pelvis, tight shoulders, or just feeling “off” can be your body asking for a little care.

And support can look different for everyone. Whether that’s physiotherapy, exercise, or even an hour of massage therapy, the important part is not having to figure it out alone.

If your body has been feeling off lately, this might be your sign to listen a little closer and give it the care it’s been asking for 🤍

There’s a lot of outdated advice around exercise during pregnancy…

and it can leave you feeling unsure about what’s actually safe for your body.

The truth is, for most pregnancies, exercise is not only safe, it is recommended.

So we wanted to clear up some of the common myths surrounding exercise during pregnancy.

With guidance from our Pregnancy Physiotherapist and Exercise Physiologist, you’ll learn how to move in a way that feels right for your body, breathe with ease, and feel more prepared for both birth and recovery.

You can book an initial consultation with our Pregnancy Physio and Exercise Physiologist if you’d like guidance through your pregnancy journey. 🌸

We recently visited to learn more about Emsculpt 🌸

Here’s what we learned:
• We experienced Emsculpt firsthand and explored how it works
• Who it may support
• And how it can complement the care we provide at Women’s Health Hub

We really valued the opportunity to try it ourselves, as it gave us a clearer understanding of what our clients may experience firsthand.

A big thank you to Michaela for taking the time to share her knowledge and educate our team.

We’re passionate about continuing to learn and build strong referral pathways, so we can ensure our clients are supported with the right care, at the right time 🌸
