Unfortunately, training is CANCELLED this Tuesday 27th January due to the forecast extreme heat (up to 47 degrees!).

While this may upset some of our die-hards, I don’t think air aircon will be up to the job. We will be back to normal this Thursday.

All done for 2025!

It's been a crazy year, but we finally saw phase 2 of our renovations completed!
A HUGE thank you to Brook and Chris for all their effort working with the builders and with the council.
A HUGE thank you also to all the members and parents who were so generous with their time at the numerous working bees. You got us across the line, and we couldn't have done it without you.
I think we can all agree that the hall looks great, and was definitely worth it! If you haven't seen it yet, come by next year and check it out.

Last Sunday was our annual presentation day, combined with the finals for all our club championship competitions for each weapon.
As always, we were entertained by very close and hard-fought finals of an extremely high quality, and it was great celebrate the culmination of our fencers' journeys for the year.

Holiday training sessions will be Tuesday and Thursday evenings 7-9pm throughout January, commencing Tuesday 13th.
Full junior programmes will resume Saturday 31st January.

Congratulations to our younger fencers who competed last weekend in our annual Amedeo Cup U/10 foil competition!

This is always one of our favourite competitions as we see the growth of our kids early in their fencing journey. We couldn't be prouder of all of them, and we can't wait for next year!

On Saturday we held the Susan D’Onofrio Cup, our annual women’s foil competition within the club.

This competition honours our late Maestro’s wife who contributed so much to the growth of our club through her support of Maestro.

As always, it was a cracking competition with a good mix of age and experience! Every bout was hard fought with everyone giving it their all. Fierce but friendly, with our referees working hard with lots of close calls.

Congratulations to Cici for her fantastic efforts in Sydney over the weekend. Silver in the National Youth (U15) women's foil Championship, and gold in the Youth women's foil team Championship, representing Victoria A team. Cici continues to show fierce fighting spirit and great development in her technical abilities. And yet we all know she has only just begun to tap in to her potential.

Two of our keen youngsters, Thea and Cici, took part in the Rise Cup today, at Fencing Victoria in Nth Melbourne. It was a good comp with plenty of challenges, and they both put in an excellent effort. Congratulations to them both on their Gold (Cici) and bronze (Thea) medals in girls U14 and U10 foil. We're proud of you both.

Last Saturday we held our annual Joseph D'Onofrio Cup, and we were not disappointed as our U/13 and U/17 fencers showed up in good numbers and demonstrated great guts, determination, skill and comradery as they vied for the coveted trophy.

All the coaches were very impressed with the level of competition, and also the enthusiasm of our youngest fencers who are counting the days until the next year's event.

A great weekend at National Championships in Sydney. Congratulations to all our members who took part, and a big shout out to all our medallists, both individual and in teams. A fantastic improvement in everyone's fencing!

“SPLINTER” teams competition results!

Saturday saw Fioretto cross Foils, Epees and Sabres with Monash University Fencing Club in the “SPLINTER” all weapons teams event.

Reviving what was an annual inter-club competition (before the COVID disruptions), both clubs put forward their best fencers across all weapons in a best-of-three teams event. This event has always been friendly but hotly contested, and the trophy has changed hands many times since the first event in 1995. It was our pleasure to invite Monash University Fencing Club members into our club, and the event was conducted in a fun and friendly atmosphere.

This time, Fioretto prevailed, with a clean sweep of 3-0 across all weapons, although the score-line did not tell the full story. There were many close contents and outstanding induvial performances, and nothing could be taken for granted.

A huge THANK YOU to all our fencers and their families who were so generous with their time today for the Monash Family Fun Day!

We were blessed with perfect weather as we set up on the oval at Batesford Reserve in Chadstone and demonstrated fencing to the public. It was a younger audience than we have typically had at the Clayton Festival, but there was plenty of interest and we are sure today will result in some future members. We were especially proud of our younger fencers who were out talking to the public and helping to explain fencing and promote our club.

We are indeed blessed to have such a great community at our club!

Last Saturday saw our U/13 and U/17 fencers cross blades and contest this year's Joseph D'Onofrio Cup.

This junior competition is held in honour of our late Maestro, and he would have been very proud of the spirited and skillful fencing on display. As coaches we love watching our young fencers get challenged and grow, and it was a day of such moments.
