Just giving a huge shout out to Johann and Tut at The Hansen Mechanic and their generosity for fixing on our beloved Sh*tbox after thrashing her on the last Sh*tbox Rally He has done so much work in kind for us so we will be paying that forward (or back) to their team for their next Mystery Box Rally donating as a sponsor. Johann and Tut are a perfect example of the genuine people and the spirit of the rally, so giving and raising so much money for the cause Cancer research 🙏 If you are in the Gold Coast area definitely look them up!

Rally number two done and literally dusted!!

Sorry follows, once I was on the road I lost interest in facebook, I did have a WhatsApp group for those in my contacts.

Here is what you missed:

8075 kms covered in 14 days
$1,926.89 in fuel
Cheapest fuel Tamworth $1.66 per litre
Most expensive Border Village SA $2.80 per litre
4 flat tires

What an awesome experience to drive 3/4 around the country in two weeks in a car (believe it or not) I paid $1500 for.

We did the Gibb River Road (believe it or not) in a car with regular tires and got no flats, in one day (13 hours of straight driving) 5 hours of which were in the dark and we couldn’t see a thing for the dust - we didn’t think we would make it but live to tell the story.

We did 11 river crossings in a car (with regular tires)

Thelma and I didn’t have a single fight and I realized how much I love her and what a great driver she is, and she kept me warm at night 🥰

We made some amazing friends along the way, salt of the earth is a real thing.

The incredible skill of a bush mechanic that can fix anything on the road is a real thing.

The beauty of this country we live in

Rest day in Perth

So good to have a sleep in, did some organizing, fueled up and went to our pre rally meeting. So awesome to meet our Buddy Group, super excited about this route to Darwin, it’s going to be epic 🥳

Day 5 Norseman to Perth 718 kms

Home to start line 3,977 kms in 5 days

From Donga to Duxton! It’s like two different worlds!! It’s weird coming into a busy city, I think you are all mad wanting to live in such a busy place… but when in Rome we dined 😋

Sleep in and rest tomorrow before rally meeting… we hope the rain is gone for the start 🤞

Day 4 Eucla to Norseman 686 kms

Great stay and food at the Eucla Motel, we checked out the old Telegraph Station down by the beach, built in 1877, then on to more driving across the Nullabor to 90 Mile Straight ….

So much straight road 🤪

Staying at Great Western Norseman, the restaurant here is awesome 😋

Pretty excited to get to Perth tomorrow 🤞

Day 3 Port Augusta to Eucla WA 913 kms

Checked out the windmills in Penong and had lunch, met up with another fellow Sh*tboxer and convoyed along the Nullabor, it really is long and straight!!

Staying at Eucla Motel, we’ve had a a good dinner and are very confused about what time it actually is, I think we have crossed 3 time zones?? 🤷‍♀️

Day 2 Nyngan to Port Augusta SA - 958 kms

Left at 6am in the dark and cold, drove via Cobar, Wilcannia, Broken Hill, it’s vast!

I’ve never seen so much road kill in my life, and goats… soooooo many goats

Lunch at Broken Hill and arrived at a reasonable hour in Port Augusta

Thelma (aka Ryan Hughes)… I’ve never felt so awake 😄
