The Nuriootpa Bowling Club is in the heart of the world famous Barossa Valley, arguably one of the finest wine producing areas not only in Australia but anywhere in the entire world. Nuriootpa, derived from the aboriginal name Nguriatpa (a meeting place) sits in the heart of Australia's best known wine region, the Barossa Valley, and is the region's largest town and commercial centre. The Nuriootpa Bowling Club is also the region's largest and like the vineyards and wineries that surround, is steeped in tradition and success. The club was established in 1928 with the help of a grant of £500 from Nuriootpa benefactor William Coulthard with the first clubhouse and green situated behind the Town Institute. Due to continued growth, the club relocated to the present freehold site in 1963 where a generous clubhouse and two greens were established. The following years would see continued improvements to both Clubhouse and surrounds with several extensions to the Clubrooms, replacement of greens, new lights and Memorial Gardens. Eighty plus years on and now over 100 members of all categories are able to enjoy the excellent facilities and greens, a willingness to continue to be successful on the playing field, and to prosper and build on the excellent work that has been achieved in the past.

Tales from Tiger Park
The Nuriootpa Bowling Club was in pristine condition and the weather was perfect as the club hosted visiting sides Glenelg and Berri for a pre-season weekend at Tiger Park. Three 10-end games on Saturday gave players a valuable opportunity to prepare for the new season, with competitive matches throughout the day. The local Nuri side finished on top, followed by Glenelg in second place and Berri in third, while the top team for the day was an all-female side from Glenelg. The hosts provided a generous lunch, followed by a pizza tea supplied from Amanti Pizzas, one of the club’s sponsors. With most of the Berri team returning home after Saturday, the Tigers and the Bays met again on Sunday for a 15-end game, finishing the weekend with a barbecue lunch. It was a great atmosphere at Tiger Park across both days, and all clubs now look forward to the new season.
