The Nuriootpa Bowling Club is in the heart of the world famous Barossa Valley, arguably one of the finest wine producing areas not only in Australia but anywhere in the entire world. Nuriootpa, derived from the aboriginal name Nguriatpa (a meeting place) sits in the heart of Australia's best known wine region, the Barossa Valley, and is the region's largest town and commercial centre. a Bowling Club is also the region's largest and like the vineyards and wineries that surround, is steeped in tradition and success. The club was established in 1928 with the help of a grant of £500 from Nuriootpa benefactor William Coulthard with the first clubhouse and green situated behind the Town Institute. Due to continued growth, the club relocated to the present freehold site in 1963 where a generous clubhouse and two greens were established. The following years would see continued improvements to both Clubhouse and surrounds with several extensions to the Clubrooms, replacement of greens, new lights and Memorial Gardens. Eighty plus years on and now over 100 members of all categories are able to enjoy the excellent facilities and greens, a willingness to continue to be successful on the playing field, and to prosper and build on the excellent work that has been achieved in the past.

Another fine Friday for social bowls,Twenty six players and some very close games overall winners were Andrew and Brenton, closely followed by Steve Allan and Bruce “the Gnome” Klemm. Raffle was one again John T and the chocolates went to Dave Marner who will no doubt share them with his wife Barbara. Thanks again to Maureen for the sausages and bread, much appreciated. Get down to Billy Jacks Bar at the Vine Inn from 5.30pm tonight (Friday) enjoy a bevvy or two and have a crack at winning one of 4 meat trays or 4x 6packs of Beer generously donated by one of our Major Sponsors the Vine Inn Barossa. All proceeds go back to the Club. Have some fun, stay for a meal and a catch up with your fellow bowlers, supporters and friends. We would like to sincerely thank all who support us by generously buying raffle tickets.
