Ilyo is ready to go. Competition day for our black belts today.
It’s been years of training to get to this point and massive thanks to Duan and a James being the driving force behind these guys. We would also like to thank Ruth and Ben from Adelaide Taekwondo Academy and Evan and Kiandra from Just Kicks Taekwondo Development Centre without their help and guidance and inviting the kids to train with them each week they wouldn’t be as ready as they are today.

Outstanding effort today at the state championships by Addison and Carissa. Addison up first and he dominated the first round, but unfortunately ran out of legs in the second and 3rd rounds but gained some well overdue mat time and valuable experience more than a couple of bruises and a bronze medal.
Gold for Carissa who had an epic return to the mats showing she absolutely still has what it takes to get the win. With a bit more training and mat fitness she’ll be ready to take on anyone at nationals.
Admin couldn’t be more proud of both of their achievements today. Well done to the organisers, volunteers, referees and those that put everything into making today happen, a very well run event.
Thanks also to our cheer squad/filming team and coaches the day wouldn’t have been the same without you there.

The Paul Cooper memorial trophy this year was a tough one, unable to decide between 2 very worthy recipients it was decided to be awarded to both. Congratulations to Katie and Alistair Dinnison who worked tirelessly together to be ready to grade to their Black belt at the end of last year. Katie also helped out with the younger class and Alistair is always only a phone call away when things get too tough for “Admin”.
You both have earned this award, we are very proud and very grateful for you both 🩷🥋💙🥋

We had a great day at today at RTXtreme Taekwondo & Fitness.
We took 4 competitors, Addison, Koopa, Cooper and Alana. They all did an amazing job.
It was Alana’s second competition and she faced a blackbelt in her first fight. She held her own despite getting a nasty kick to the chin, we were all very proud that she finished that fight. In her second fight she dominated the mats, controlling her competitors every move but unfortunately was not able to get the kicks to score. We hope to see Alana at many more comps in the future.
Addison was a pleasure to watch showing the true taekwondo spirit and taking care with his less experienced opponents, his skill and control were evident in well timed shots taking out the win in both bouts.
Cooper has returned to competition after a bit of time off and had a ball, he was not able to get a win but scored some great kicks and had “the best time”
Koopa took his enthusiasm onto the mats which is always good to see, he scored some great shots and enjoyed the challenge of his first fight, not able to get the win against an older more experienced opponent. His second fight unfortunately ended in injury which no one likes to see but is sometimes part of the experience, we hope for a speedy recovery of his opponent.
Massive thanks to Ryan who did an amazing job coaching our team today.
We really appreciate being invited to these competitions as every one is a bit more experience on the mats that we otherwise wouldn’t be able to get.
