Private Pilates for Dancers.
The perfect combination of low impact, strength training and stretching. Pilates allows for the individual to truly tap into the how, why and where of the body.
After years of dancing myself it wasn’t until I started to practice pilates consistently that I really understood my own anatomy and physiology, something that I now realise was missing when I danced. I remember my very clever mentor saying - “if you had had Pilates as part of your weekly practice it would have changed the way you danced.” I wholeheartedly believe that. It is now what I preach to the young dancers that see come and see me weekly. With such big demands and expectations on such little people, it is so important to educate them on understanding their bodies in space, not only does this make for a better dancer it also aids in injury prevention. So rather than thinking about Pilates as a form of rehab instead think of it as the missing piece to a very beautiful puzzle.
