A wonderful piece - Thank you Jill Whittaker!
Tuesdays and Thursdays over the warmer months attract both ladies' bowlers and tennis players at the club. The sounds of each sport playing alongside each other is something very special about Tranmere.

Sport is so important to the physical and mental health of our community.

Over many years Campbelltown City Council (SA) has invested to assist clubs to provide the facilities for everyone to be strong and healthy. It has been a decades long project and is still in progress to make facilities match community expectations.

As a result women can still play tennis and netball but are out playing footy and soccer in numbers never imagined just a few years ago - and winning too.

I congratulate the local clubs for their determination to support girls and women to be out on the field and enjoying all the same benefits as the men.

An incident over the weekend could be viewed as a setback but I believe it showed a strength in our community to make us all feel better about our community.

It was reported on another site that a lone man was yelling insults at young women players on the footy field. The players kept playing but another man dashed over to intervene. No violence. No drama. Just de-escalation and hopefully the troubled man who felt that he needed to put the players down learned a valuable lesson.

Well done Sir Galahad and Go the women players.

Club Tranmere’s Paradise Mazda Cosmo 4’s Tournament took place yesterday in beautiful autumn weather. 104 bowlers (26 teams) contested the sought after prize pool of $2000, with a close finish with one-point separating the placegetters.

It was good to see Event Sponsor, Jeff and Jenny Neale from Paradise Mazda and share lunch with them. The lunch was fantastic, with the smell of roast chicken and bacon wafting across the greens!

Thanks to the many volunteers and thoughtful planning for the day to run smoothly.

We look forward to seeing you next year!

Tranmere Bowling Club is very proud to celebrate its Club Champions of 2026.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the competitions run over many months. The behind-the-scenes organisation and availability of markers / scorers helped the process run smoothly.

Tranmere Bowling Club Recognition Awards 2026.

Mary Diestel-Feddersen was awarded the 2025 Premier’s Certificate in recognition for Outstanding Volunteer Service. Well and truly deserved, Mary!

Of special mention, Graham Young was awarded the Player of the Year Trophy, reflecting the consistently high feedback from co-players on Saturdays throughout the pennant season.

Not surprisingly, Louise and Tom Lycett were recipients of the annual Mike Porter award for their outstanding volunteering efforts. Well done (and cheers to you both!).
