Tranmere Bowling Club proudly held its Open Day today. We welcomed our recently appointed Club Patron, Jenn Roberts (MP and Member for Hartley) and her husband Tim.

We celebrated with many of our life members and paused to thank our membership group who make this club so special.

To set the new season in motion, Jenn Roberts delivered the first bowl (and she did a great job!)

This was followed by a well-organised Scroungers' Game - the winners were Martin Fry, Veronica Dolan and Gerry Carr, runners up were Dawn Ross, John Lucas and Roger Kairl.

Thanks to Di Ferris, Ann Ellis and Grace Murphy for the delicious scones!

Well, that's a wrap for Winter Bowls 2026. Thanks for the many shared laughs, companionship and of course excellent bowls. Special mention goes to John Feddersen, Steve Briffa and Mark Kennedy. A quiet worker in the background was always Martin Fry, who prepared the greens for play.
These three lads adopted their uniform at the commencement of the season and deserve special mention. Good going!

What a fantastic Working Bee!
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came along today and helped get our club looking ship-shape and ready for the season ahead!
It was a busy day, with our team working around Chair Yoga and the team undertaking the removal of our old shades on the front greens — but everyone pitched in and got stuck into the jobs at hand.
There was plenty happening around the club:
• New hooks for bowling arms and lifters — a great addition to help keep our equipment handy and organised. Thanks Dino and David. Great idea Janne!
• Whiteboards updated and refreshed — thanks Chris
• Kitchen cleaned and organised — a big thank you to Mary, Di, Margie and Grace
• Outdoor preparation and tidy-up — thanks Claus, Richard, Grace, Greg, Dino and Robin
• Office work and administration — thanks Kerron, John, Gill and Mark T
• Bar area preparation — thanks Louise, Tom, Joan and Philippa
• Meeting room reorganised — thanks Beth, Grace, Margie and Gill
• Setting up tables – thanks Robin and Geoff H
And, of course, no working bee would be complete without a well-earned delicious afternoon tea, which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone!
It’s wonderful to see so many members giving their time and working together to make Club Tranmere an even better place for everyone.
Thank you to our fantastic volunteers — your effort, enthusiasm and teamwork are very much appreciated!

TRANMERE WELCOMES OUR NEW CLUB PATRON!

At last night's club dinner, Club Tranmere was delighted to welcome Jenn Roberts MP and member for Hartley as our new Club Patron. It was wonderful to meet you and your husband Tim.

We are thrilled to have Jenn’s support and look forward to working with her as we continue to grow and strengthen our club and its place within the local community.

Welcome to Club Tranmere, Jenn! We look forward to sharing plenty of bowls, tennis, friendship and community spirit with you.

Below Tim and Jenn are pictured with Dino DeCorso, recent president of Tranmere Bowling Club.

Winter Soups on Friday Winter Bowls have concluded for the year. The last 3 months have seen pumpkin soups, zucchini soups, cauliflower soup, tomato and carrot soups, broccoli soup and finally spinach and feta triangles (to take advantage of many bunches of spinach grown by club regular, Margie Filmer). On two occasions, Peter Carr made exceptional pea and ham soup which was served with a pie of course!
Thank you to those who helped make the soups on site: Margaret Mealor, Beth Porter, Margie Filmer and Gill Bartley and those who helped in and around the kitchen.
Pies and pasties continue as usual!

WINTER BOWLS. Tranmere's Friday Winter Bowls Competition has been a riot, thanks to Mark Kennedy's weekly raffle prize.

All T-Shirt / apron winners came together yesterday to show their wares. Martin Fry was declared the winner, wearing a highly sought after T-Shirt and Shorts set with grotesque artwork. Well Marty, you didn't come third this time! Well done!
