Coulter Barracudas is run completely by volunteers (even coulter staff and our officials aren’t paid)!

Coulter Barracudas send their deepest sympathies to the Coulter Family at this incredibly sad time.

For those of us who were lucky enough to know Jan, know what an amazing pillar of strength and determination she was. She was an amazing woman who wasn’t afraid of hard work, her tireless dedication to swimming has resulted in an impact that will continue well beyond her years. Through the swimmers she taught to the staff she educated and trained so that they could continue the legacy of swim teaching in Australia, she will always be remembered in the highest regard.

We are forever grateful to Jan for her vision which began the swimming center’s that we love so much today, for her kindness, generosity of knowledge and hard work.

The world is a sader place today for having lost such a wonderful person, but her light will continue to shine through all those her life has impacted.

It is with deep sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Jan Coulter, a true legend of the swimming lesson industry and a woman whose impact on the water will be felt for generations to come.

Jan was an absolute powerhouse. From humble beginnings, she had the vision and drive to build a business from the ground up, one that would go on to become the Coulter Swimming we know and love today.

Since the 1960s, Jan dedicated her life to the water, coaching and inspiring countless students to find their confidence, their stroke, and their love of swimming. Generations of families have passed through her hands, and every one of them carries a piece of her legacy.

Thank you Jan, for every lesson, every encouragement, and every life you touched. You will be deeply missed.

The Team:

Everyone who helps run the Coulter Barracudas is a volunteer, even those that are coulter swimming staff are not being paid to assist. Please be kind to our volunteers and do your part to assist with running of race nights - parent volunteers for time keeping are always needed, make it known on arrival that you’re happy to help.

What our club is about:

We are a swim club for everyone, if you just want to practice and have fun or you want to be competitive - we don’t mind where you sit on that spectrum.

Our race meets are designed to enable your child to learn the correct techniques and protocols for competitive swimming. Where needed, outer official will give constructive feedback to your child after their race to let them learn from what they have just done to prevent disqualification at a carnival.

Official times:

We will notify members when one of our nights is unable to be official (meaning times won’t be able to goto swimming NSW however you will still get to practice) this is rare, however sometimes it is unavoidable when other competitions are on where our officials are required.

If not otherwise specified then our meet is official and times will be submitted to swimming NSW via Swim Central over the weekend following the Friday race meet. Official times are typically verified by Swimming NSW (Merto North west) on a Monday evening.

Please note there is to be no filming or photographing of children racing at race meets (Swimming NSW Rules).

When & where we meet:

We meet twice a month on a Friday night, once at Coulter Swimming Northmead and once at Coulter Swimming Annangrove - typically but not always on a fought-nightly basis. Members are welcome to attend both pools.

Northmead is 7:15PM arrival for 7:30PM start
Annangrove is 7:30PM arrival for 7:45PM start

The majority of our communications is done via our page, so please follow us to keep up to date with what’s happening! You will find our current dates for race meets on this page.

How you enter:

Once you’re signed up as a member via swim central. You’ll see our race night event from the Monday before the race night, it will remain open for entries until 11PM on the Thursday night. You’ll go into the event and select the three races your child would like to do and proceed as if purchasing them (they’re free but you need to ‘purchase’ them) - this will enter them into the races you require for the night. To ensure the best possible times are achieved and that we aren’t still racing at midnight, entries are capped at 3 races per child. Race nights can go from 30-90 minutes depending on how many swimmers register (an average of an hour is most common).

Free Trial:

If you’d like to do one trial first you’re more than welcome, you’ll just need to message us to let us know which race evening you’d like to attend, your child’s swimming level, full name and DOB so we can enter them into the system. We will pick the events based on their swimming ability and what races are populated with entries (so your child isn’t swimming alone).

The Coulter Barracudas Swimming Club is a fun and family oriented swimming club that provides a safe environment for swimmers of all ages to compete and be the best they can be.
