🏏2026 REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT CARNIVAL🏏

What a weekend it was for the Wheatbelt team at this seasons U14 Regional Development Carnival, hosted in Perth for the first time
The team performed extremely well on field, with some incredible individual performances along the way.

A huge thanks to Kitt Byfield (Toodyay) for his time and expertise in coaching the team. All the boys thoroughly appreciate your time and have all gone home better players from your coaching.

Lastly, a massive thankyou to the parents for their commitment to getting their kids to Perth and supporting them all weekend. A massive commitment, and I'm sure all the boys are extremely grateful!

U17’s Wheatbelt Boys Game🏏

Two mixed teams from the Wheatbelt met at the oval and played two games on Sunday morning, so they could play against children of similar age, as not all kids get to play against other older teenagers locally. 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

There were some great displays across the day, with direct hit run outs, diving catches and even a debut hat trick from Jack Clements. 🎉

Players came from Lake Grace, Pingelly, Toodyay, Northam, Bruce Rock, Corrigin & Narembeen. 🚗

Thank you to all parents for getting their kids to the game, and for helping with Scoring, Umpiring and Coaching. 🙌🏼

Shoutout to the Brookton CC / Seabrook CC for hosting, and helping get the oval and wicket ready!

🏏 Country Cup 🏏

Last weekend saw the inaugural Wheatbelt Team compete in the Belt Up Country Cup hosted in Geraldton.

When the opportunity came up to nominate a team, it was a great chance to showcase our Wheatbelt Players.

The team consisted of 11 players from within the Avon, Wyalkatchem, Eastern Districts and Northam Cricket Associations. Coaching the side was Garrick Yandle (EDCA) and Team Manager was Melinda Williams (Wheatbelt Cricket Secretary).

The Belt Up Country Cup had 6x Men’s teams and 2x Women’s teams across the weekend. Our fixtures would have had us playing 4x T20’s across Saturday and Sunday, unfortunately due to the weather we only managed to play 3 of those 4 games. The results are listed below:

Game 1: Sat 4th October
Geraldton 8/89 def by Wheatbelt 5/90
Batting: Blair Barratt 36* & Tom Bennier 16
Bowling: Brady Garner 2/11, Tom Bennier 2/11 & Thomas Moore 2/15.

Game 2: Sat 4th October
BMRCA 4/189 defeated Wheatbelt 82
Batting: Thomas Moore 29
Bowling: Blair Barratt 2/31

Game 3: Sun 5th October -Final 5th vs 6th
Geraldton 5/125 def by Wheatbelt 9/129
Batting: Matthew Jankauskas 42, Luke Siegert 29 & Tom Bennier 25
Bowling: Blair Barratt 2/15 & Thomas Moore 2/19

We are very happy with the team’s effort for the weekend given that this was, as quoted by Mel “the first time these guys have played together as a team, they’ve all played against each other at Country Week, but never as a team” 🙌🏼

Massive thank you to all involved in making this happen. The support from the Wheatbelt Cricket Board, and our Sponsorship from AFGRI for the weekend was really appreciated! 👏🏼🎉

Thanks also to our crew for the tournament, Garrick Yandle, Brady Garner and Mel Williams along with support crew of Brendan Barratt and Sharon Ferguson. 🥰

We only hope this will be the start of something continuing for seasons to come.

🏏 U15 COUNTRY TALENT CARNIVAL 🏏

A massive congrats and well done to the 3 players from the Wheatbelt who took part in the WA Cricket U15 Country Talent Carnival last week in Bunbury

The carnival included an intensive skills session, as well as two one-day fixtures with and against the best 28 players of their age group across Country WA

Congrats again on your selections boys! Plenty of exciting cricketers to follow into the future!

🏏WA CRICKET REGIONAL ACADEMY PROGRAMS🏏

A huge congratulations to the 7 junior cricketers from the region who have been selected to participate in this year's WA Cricket Regional Academy Programs (RAP) held in Northam.

The players in this program were selected by local coaches thanks to their performances in WA Cricket competitions, local junior competitions and Junior Country Week.

Thanks to the Wheatbelt Cricket Board for funding this academy.
