What a big week of Speedway!
The three nights of High Limit International from 28-30th December at the Perth Motorplex were insane! The place was packed and the racing and event as a whole definitely lived up to the hype.
Although Della Motorsport weren’t racing during High Limit, we were doing our best to support the event by bolstering their bar proceeds! We also had a goal of stocking up on some decent used Sprintcar tyres to keep rubber on the 360 (to be fair, we probably could have bought a few new sets of tyres if we hadn’t supported the bar so heavily!).
Whilst tyre shopping, we got chatting with Keoni Texeira, who was in Aus to crew for RICO Abreu. Unfortunately, Rico suffered engine dramas on the final night of High Limit which ruled him out of the next event on the 2nd January (which we had entered, with Jack driving the F500).
After spending the week working with one of the world’s best drivers, Keoni knew the only way from the top was down 😂 He decided to take the next step in his crewing career and joined the elite team at Della Motorsport for the night!
We learnt a bunch in the heat races and were confident in the new direction for the car, however the heat results put us at the rear for the feature. From the drop of the flag in the feature, the car was working! Jack moved forward 8 or 9 spots in the first few laps before the engine oil decided it wanted to be on the outside, which ended the run early.
Huge thanks to Keoni for his input, but more importantly for just being an absoluter ripper of a bloke (and for the tyres 😂).
Unfortunately, our donk will need a freshen, so if anyone wants to jump on board to help out, any assistance big or small would be greatly appreciated (we promise to put our money toward the car, rather than over the bar this time!) 🏁🏁
