I wish you all a joyful and peaceful Christmas and a happy New Year. The past couple of months have been quite busy with the introduction of supervised play on Friday afternoons; a great opportunity to play, learn and ask questions at the same time. Any experienced player wishing to support this initiative is welcome. The club Pairs Championship played in late November was well supported as 6 teams competed for the title (twice); with the eventual winners being Eddie, Cheryl, Julie and Satish.
Our Christmas Party was well attended by 50 members and partners. While we were entertained by some beautiful voices, most of the fun was created by fabulous ( and not so fabulous ) line dancing led by Vesna. It was good to see so many others have a go and join in the spirit of the evening. I would like to thank Heike for the beautiful food; we are fortunate to have such quality of food at all our special functions.
There will be no drinks and nibbles at the end of December as we will be on our Christmas break. Drinks and nibbles will begin in the last week in January and the barbeque will be held on Wednesday 29th. The last day of play this year will be Friday 20th December and the first day of play in the new year will be Monday 6th January.
Finally please make a note in your diary that there will be a Geneal Meeting at 5pm on Thursday 30 January, immediately following the scheduled bridge session on that day.
This will be to vote on motions pertaining to:
(a) An addition to the constitution required by the ATO to be granted not-for-profit status
(b) A small increase in membership/table fees to meet the club’s increasing running costs
The club’s constitution requires that these proposed changes be approved at a General Meeting, Details of the proposed motions will be emailed to all members in early January.
