Swing Patrol North Sydney Fun and friendly Swing dancing classes, with beginners and intermediate levels. No partner required, but you must be double vaxxed to attend.

What an amazing weekend at SLX! The Sydney Lindy Exchange is always a highlight of the Sydney dancing calendar, but this year was particularly epic.
Huge thanks to Bruce Elder and all of the team for putting on such a wonderful event. The bands were incredible, the Dancing was hot and a fabulous time was had by all.

Jo Yuen Andy, and were honored to be part of the judging team at the Australian Swing Dance Championships again, and this year the standard was even higher than last year. Props to all of the competitors for a wonderful competition, but you made our job as Judges really tough!

And it was really wonderful to see so many of our class students out, ripping up the dance floor and having an amazing time.

Can’t wait for next year, now time to rest ZZZZZ

What to expect?
Friday 7.00pm-2.00am - Australian Swing Dance Championships - it's competition night, so come and throw your hat in the ring or watch some incredible dancers compete, followed by social dancing till late at the Polish Club in Ashfield

Saturday 7.30-11.30pm - The Deco Dance - this is the big one! A beautiful ball at Leichhardt Town Hall with live music. Dress up and get fancy!

Saturday 11.30pm-3.00am - PJ Jam After Party - Then there's the famous PJ Jam at La Fiesta Dance Factory in Annandale till 3.00am.

Sunday 2.00-6.00pm - Swing Out at the Columbian - a relaxed and chilled afternoon of live music, dancing, drinks and hangs with your dance friends.

There's a special joy in taking the time to slow down... with some Slow Balboa of course! And the best thing about slow dancing is it makes ALL your dancing better - as it improves your control, your balance, your leading & following skills, and it gives you the time to enjoy adding your own personal flair.

We enjoyed this so much that next month's All-levels class on 6th October will be on another beautiful slow style of dancing - Savoy Walk Ballroomin' Blues. You can find all the details for that class here:

This week we played with different ways to start and finish a song, with an emphasis on "play" to add creativity and musicality to your dancing. We also learned two dips as great ways to end a song - including the side dip and the spinning Koala dip.

As always with any dip make sure it's safe! So don't do dips with people you don't know, and only do the dip if absolutely everything goes perfectly - it's always better to abort than push through and risk someone getting hurt.

Next week we have beginners at 7pm, and our monthly all-levels class on Slow Balboa at 8pm - see you there!

At Swing Patrol, there is nothing we like better than nerding out about dance technique, and this week's Level 2 class was a deep dive into the concept of "elastic or dymamic frame". We did a bunch of exercises using stretchy bands so that we could see the stretch which helps us to visualise and understand what we are aiming for. Everyone's swingouts were so much better at the end of the class!

Want to fine tune your dancing, and improve your technique? Come along to our Level 2/Intermediate class at 8pm every Tuesday!
