🏏 Northy Wrap! 🏏
Stage 2 A’s Grand Final
NNCCC Blues 7/182 (27 overs) DEF Ulladulla Blue 8/121
Woo hoo — we did it! I couldn’t be a prouder coach.
The day began with us losing the toss and being sent in to bat. As he has done all season, Sam La Lancette starred with the bat, smashing 53 off 34 balls, and capped it off with an outstanding all-round performance — 2 catches, 1 stumping, and 1 wicket — earning a well-deserved Player of the Match.
Aarjav was rock solid with 26 off 37*, while Mihir showed great patience with 12 off 35*. Artharv added 13 off 15, including an amazing six late in the innings that helped the team reach a fantastic total of 7/182.
With the ball, skipper Tom led from the front, taking 3/29 from 5 overs. Caleb cleaned up the tail brilliantly with 2/1, and the remaining wickets were shared around as the team bowled with great discipline. The telling part was the opposition bowled 42 sundries and we only bowled 13 👏.
The Blues finished the season with an incredible 14 wins and just 1 loss, and every single player deserved to have that medal placed around their neck.
A huge thank you to Matt Guyatt, our assistant coach this year, and to our wonderful team manager and scorer Michelle La Lancette for everything she did for both the team and myself.
And to Life Member and club legend Neville Hickmott — thank you. From running the canteen to setting everything up today while I was running late, we can’t thank you enough for the tireless work you do week in, week out.
After the match, the kids celebrated in the change rooms — a moment we’ll all remember — before heading over to Artie Smith Oval to receive their medals.
A special congratulations to Sam, who almost needed a wheelbarrow to carry all his awards out! 🏆
Sam’s awards:
U14s Rep Champion Player of the Year
Stage 2 A’s Batting Award – 508 runs @ 254
Aggregate Player of the Year – 668 points
Grand Final Player of the Match
Thomas Hickmott also had an outstanding season, taking home the Stage 2 A’s All-Rounder Award:
201 runs @ 50.25
13 wickets @ 10.85
8 catches
A big thank you to Tom for his leadership as captain, and Sam as vice-captain. You’ve both represented your club and teammates with pride from start to finish and shown incredible maturity at such a young age.
Congratulations kids — a thoroughly deserved win! 👏
A big congratulations to all of our representative SDCA players this season who received medals.

Seniors – 4th Grade Semi Final
NNCCC 8/130 DEF Bay & Basin 71
We travelled south to the Leisure Centre for a 2nd vs 3rd showdown with a spot in the Grand Final on the line.
It was fantastic to see plenty of support from the club, with several 1st and 2nd grade players making the trip down with partners, wives, and of course Sticks with his famous esky, along with club tragic and biggest supporter Micky D, all there cheering the boys and Molly on.
Tim won the toss and elected to bat.
Once again Sam La Lancette led the way, top scoring with 39 off 68 in a composed innings. It was fantastic to see two 14-year-olds open the batting, showing great courage against a swinging new ball. They put 19 runs on the board but, more importantly, saw off the shine and battled through 11 overs.
While Tim (21) and Mark (14) added useful runs, the most crucial partnership came from Sam Lynch (10 off 34)* and Harry Woods (13 off 23). Their determined stand of 29 runs helped push the total to 130.
At the innings break, 130 looked slightly below par — but finals cricket is a different game, and anything can happen.
Bay & Basin started quickly, racing to 0/30 off 4 overs. Greg Sweet came into the attack and, despite putting down a tough chance 🤦♂️, made immediate amends the very next ball by trapping their skipper LBW.
Then came something special.
Tommy Hickmott was handed the ball and produced one of the best spells of leg spin we’ve seen — especially from a 14-year-old. In complete control, he tore through the middle order, finishing with a brilliant 3/7 from 6 overs.
He was superbly supported by Mark (3/6) and Greg Sweet (2/15) and Sam bowled well taking 1/18.
In the field, Mitch Walker put on a show, taking four excellent catches — the kind of fielding that doesn’t go unnoticed by the grading committee 😂.
In the end, it was a fantastic all-round performance, bowling Bay & Basin out for 71 and booking a place in the Grand Final next Saturday in Ulladulla.
We’ve had the better of them this season, if the team play with the same intensity they showed on Saturday, they’ll give it a real crack at bringing that trophy 🏆 home.
Next Week
The Grand Final will be played in Ulladulla (ground TBC).
Let’s pack the chairs, fill the eskies, wear our colours, and make the trip down to support the 4th Graders.
Let’s be loud and proud — the whole club will be behind you!
Until next week… GO NORTHIES! 🏏💙
