On behalf of the entire Perna family, it is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Antonio “Tony” Perna.

Tony was a passionate and loyal supporter of the club, and his love for Lions was something he instilled deeply in all of his children. His family’s ongoing loyalty to the club is a reflection of the values he carried and shared.

He was a familiar face around the grounds each week, always willing to lend a hand, and dedicated countless hours, including bulldozing the hill to help make way for the clubhouse.

Tony’s legacy at Lions lives on through his children and grandchildren.

For those wishing to attend his funeral, please see the notice below.

Congratulations to our very own Adam Parrish for being recognised for his immense work he puts behind the scenes for our club. We are incredibly fortunate to have Adam here at Lions and appreciate all of the work he does to continue to make our community as great as it is.

Congratulations to our Volunteer of the Month, Adam Parrish.

Adam has been a dedicated part of Mackay Lions for over 10 years, serving as Treasurer, Junior Coach and Junior Coordinator. He plays a key role in coordinating registrations, compiling team lists and supporting junior enquiries, giving countless hours of his time to the club.

From setting up fields for junior training to volunteering at senior home games, Adam’s contribution to the club and the wider Whitsunday Coast region is outstanding.

🦁 KAPPA CUP RESULTS 🦁

Unfortunately our FQPL Women’s Kappa Cup campaign has come to an end after a tough battle between Edge Hill on Saturday night going down 2-1.
The girls showed incredible grit against a strong opposition but showed high levels of skill and positive team dynamics across the match.

The girls would like to thank the club and committee for making this possible and supporting them to get this far in their campaign. Thank you also goes to our Lions family who showed up with us and those who supported us from home. It never goes unnoticed and we appreciate the effort our members go to show their support.

Thank you to other members/clubs from Mackay who showed support also!
Thank you to Kinetic and our favourite bus driver for getting us home safely for the last couple of trips.

Thank you finally to Edge Hill for hosting and providing our crew with food and drinks! It was incredibly generous and we wish you the best of luck in your campaign and the rest of your season!

The girls will return their to focus on the local league but will continue to work hard as a team in hopes to further their Kappa Cup campaign in 2027!
