Froggy Wise Handicaps

Congratulations to all who took part in the Froggy Wise Handicap this morning, and adapted to the split start times.

Unfortunately the person doing the results didn't adapt as well, and we had an error in the presentations.

Jules Evans was correctly named and presented as the winner of the long race, however in the short race, the first across the line, Mario Milan, was not eligible to win the trophy due to not having competed in enough runs. While checking other athletes, we (I, Jarrod) inadvertantly checked the wrong barcode, and missed Sam Alderton as the first eligible athlete across the line.

Therefore we congratulate Sam Alderton as the winner of the short race, and apologise to Will Taranto, who was second. (Will and Sam are both aware, and have accepted my apologies).

The Bulk Nutrients Protein Bar challenge tomorrow is very simple - finish second or third in either the long or short race and you can enjoy 20g of protein packed into a low sugar, low carb, great tasting snack that won’t ruin your appetite for the post race BBQ.

Saturday’s Interclub is the final round of Athletics South’s 2026 Winter Season, with the Froggy Wise Memorial Handicaps at Risdon Brook Dam.

Clive “Froggy” Wise was a founding member of the Sandy Bay Harrier Club who devoted his life to athletics, most notably as an official and a coach.

There is a choice of one lap of the dam (4.2km) or two, with a start time of 10am for those off go in the long race and 10:30am if you are doing the short race.

A BBQ and season presentations will be held post race.

Steigen socks will be awarded to the first to finish in both races.
