If you haven’t yet watched the Spotlight documentary Second Class Treatment on Seven Plus, it’s well worth your time.
The program highlights several important conversations around women’s health that are finally receiving the attention they deserve - strength training, muscle mass, bone density, nutrition, cardiovascular fitness, healthy ageing, and longevity.
These are not new concepts, but for many women they have been overshadowed for years by fad diets, quick fixes, and the constant pursuit of being smaller rather than stronger.
One of the standout messages from Dr Stacy Sims was the importance of building muscle, supporting overall health, and focusing on sustainable habits rather than restrictive approaches. It’s a philosophy that aligns closely with how we coach our members at The Shed.
The transformation of our client Britt is a great example. Through a common-sense approach centred around strength, nutrition, accountability, and consistency, Britt has lost more than 20 kilograms while building a healthier, stronger body and creating habits that support her future health.
As more mainstream media begins to share evidence-based messages around women’s health, we hope more women feel empowered to move away from fads and towards strategies that genuinely improve their quality of life.
If you’re looking for an approach built on proven principles rather than trends, we’d love to help.
