As the days count down it is time for a shout out to this year's Normanton Rodeo gymkhana major sponsors - World Welding and Transport Services, John Chaplin and TWT Rural!

A huge thankyou to NQRA (North Queensland Rodoe Association) for covering the cost of kids so it is now FREE to compete.

Thanks to Gallagher Quarter Horses for covering the cost of all adult competitors so they will also be FREE!

With cash up for grabs you can't get better than that!

For this year’s gymkhana there are some changes so please take note.

1. Cost of competing at this year’s rodeo gymkhana is $10 per competitor. You can nominate and pay on the day - cash or card accepted. We will be taking noms and payment at the bar (cash only) from 6pm until 9pm on Thursday night as well.

2. Every competitor regardless of age must wear a helmet to compete.

3. Every person who enters the arena must sign a waiver regardless of if they are competing or not. This includes parents and volunteers.

Hi everyone. We are looking for some volunteers to give us a hand between 8am and 11am to run the gymkhana on Friday of rodeo please? We need a few more people to lend a hand. No previous experience is necessary - just people who are keen to have a good time and help out with running events for the kids. We need scribes and time keepers. Please let us know if you can help out! Will be greatly appreciated.

Hi all,

Please be advised the clinic is at absolute capacity and we cannot have any more participants. If you missed out but want to come please contact us and we will pop you on the wait list.

Please understand we cannot have people turning up on the day to join in who are not listed below as we need to be fair to those who are riding in the clinic and also those on the wait list.

See everyone riding at the rodeo grounds at 8:00am for warm up.

Reminder the clinic is on next Monday and Tuesday in Normanton and all spots have been filled which is great!

Afternoon everyone! Carpentaria Horse Sports are once again running the gymkhana at this years Normanton Rodeo.

Events this year are -

Keyhole
Flag race
Stake race
Wagon wheel
Walk, trot and lead
And of course …. barrels.

Age groups are -

7yrs and under led
7yrs and under
8-10yrs
11-13yrs
14-16yrs
Open

Nominations from 8am with events starting at. 8:30am. Competitors under 18yrs need a parent or guardian to sign waivers to compete.

Come along and join in the Australia Day celebrations tomorrow, commencing at the shire here with Brekky. Horse sports has offered to cook the Brekky for the shire!

Horse Sports are also hosting golf at the Normanton Golf Course tomorrow. Meet at 12p at the club house to grab a free steak sandwiches with tee off at 12.15pm. BYO golf buggies (or similar) or walk the course. BYO drinks. There are some prizes up for grabs including yeti stuff (you can never have too much yeti stuff), fishing lures and golf balls.
