A city of contrasts: Zagreb has grown on me. What an interesting mix of old and new. A very rich history and so many stories of suffering and resilience and hope. Rebuilding after wars and earthquakes. Steep staircases up to cobbled pathways between old buildings… huge wooden doors and behind each one a shop or an apartment or another building…so much restoration happening all around. Stories of the church and the changing culture … our local guide Ivana kept us enraptured for hours with her local knowledge, amazing historical facts and all interspersed with real life examples of living and growing up in Zagreb. And of course the good - so many delicious delicacies sampled at the local market and at a local Konoba.

Yes, this view is real… see image 2 to prove it. We spent ages watching the sunset unfold before us, and it felt like we were turning the pages of a children’s pop up book - every few minutes the scene changed hues and became even more beautiful… thank you for these moments of awe…
