is a country based club entered in the Warrnambool and District Football and Netball League (WDFNL). We are located in the heart of dairy farming country, approximately 35 kilometres east of Warrnambool and consequently draw players and supporters from a wide geographical area. We see ourselves at Nirranda as not just a football and netball club, but as the major hub of the community. Football in
the Nirranda district has a long and proud history. Initially there were clubs from both Nirranda and Nirranda South until an amalgamation of the clubs took place in 1976. Prior to this, Nirranda won 10 premierships (1935, 44, 53, 54, 58, 59, 61, 62, 64 & 65) and Nirranda South 4 premierships (1948, 50, 60 & 66). Since amalgamation, Nirranda has won 4 more premierships in 1977, 1980, 1985 and 1999. Since joining the WDFNL in 1992, we have played in two senior grandfinals, losing in 1993 to South Rovers and defeating Russels Creek in 1999 by 32 points. Our most recent success was at junior level, when in 2010 our Under 17 team overcame Timboon in horribly wet conditions by 15 points. In the early part of the 20th century several players moved to VFL teams. More recently, Paul Couch began his early football career at the club, before proceeding to Warrnambool Football Club where he was recruited by Geelong (AFL). In cricket, another former club junior, Tim Ludeman is currently playing with the South Australian Redbacks. We also enetered our first netball team in th WDFNL in 1992, since then winning premierships in B Grade (1995), A Grade (1999 & 2000), 17 & Under (2000 & 2009) and Under 15 (2004). Over this period, our netballers have won several League Best and Fairest awards in both Senior (N. Cunningham: 1999 & 2004. Gillin: 2006) and Junior (C.Wallace: 1999. Ludeman: 2010 & 2011) grades.
