GAPUWIYAK COMMUNITY NOTICE
PLEASE HELP PROTECT OUR NEW HOMES

As follows is a message from WTD
Our construction site was entered again last night.
This is now happening almost every night.
Over the past year, there have been repeated break-ins and damage at the housing sites, laydown yard, batching plant and staff accommodation. New houses and screens have been damaged, tools and personal property have been stolen, vehicle and excavator windows have been smashed, materials have been scattered, and fires have been lit.
Every break-in means our workers must stop building to clean up, make the area safe, replace damaged materials and repair equipment. This costs money and slows down the delivery of new houses for Gapuwiyak families.
If this continues, construction work may have to pause and the new houses will be delayed.
We are part of this community. Last week our team helped fight fires. We support Cracker Night and help when the community asks. We want to keep working with Gapuwiyak and finish these homes safely.
Parents, families and community leaders: please talk with children and young people. Ask them to stay out of construction areas, leave equipment and materials alone, and help protect the houses being built for the community.
Construction sites are dangerous. There are machines, sharp materials, electricity and unfinished buildings. Entering the site can cause serious injury.
