New to town? Or heard about Old Codgers but never quite got around to heading down? Well, there’s no time like the present to kickstart your year by getting the kids out of the house, doing a bit of exercise and meeting a ripping bunch of blokes (and ladies) over an ice cold refreshment.

So grab your work mate or your neighbour and head on down to Hindle Oval for the greatest day of the week.

🎄 A very, Merry Codgers Christmas🎄

A ripper night at Codgers HQ with a visit from Santa and the legends from Nhulunbuy Fire Station to keep the kids entertained while the dads were able to rehydrate after a run around. It was also great to see so many wives, mums and partners getting down to celebrate all that is great about Wednesdays at Hindle!

The 2025 International Mens Day falls on the greatest day of the week- Wednesday!

On November 19 each year, International Men’s Day celebrates worldwide the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities.

To celebrate this monumental occasion, we’ve decided to do the exact same thing we do every other week- have a run around Hindle Oval from 5pm with plenty of laughs followed by a few cold refreshments.

So if you’ve been thinking about heading down during the year, then there’s never been a better time to be involved. And if you’re not sure if it’s for you, then pop down anyway for a chin wag and coldy.

🪩 Another bumper crowd rolled in for our annual “Not the Brownlow” awards for a laughter filled night of hypnosis! 🪩

😆 🧙‍♂️ Mat Shirley Hypnosis Parties cast his spell over some willing volunteers. And wowee- did they deliver! 🧙‍♂️ 😆

🏆 A big congratulations to all of the award winners. But in particular Brad Searle ,who was awarded the inaugural Dave “Chucky” Morris Memorial MVP. 🏆

🍲🎧A big thanks to the bar and kitchen staff at the Gove Golfie, as well as DJ Scotty who kept the dance floor hits flowing. 🍲 🎧

Just another great night to be apart of the Codgers community.

The Gove Old Codgers headed east for our annual clash with the Cairns Stingers. In an arm wrestle of a game, a Brad Searle inspired Stingers kicked a couple of early goals to hold on to a 12 point margin.

With a few question marks lingering over the recent training regime of our South Australian chapter, dynamic forward and Codgers hall of famer Dave Neenan was at his crafty best with 3 goals and a number of assists.

Andrew Murton battled admirably in the ruck, while Wayne Jago and Clint Starkey were prominent through the midfield.

A super turnout for our annual Anzac Day match which despite the weather, was played in great spirits. Crafty forward Brian Frank kicked the Goal of the Day while nuggety onballer Brad Searle was awarded the Anzac Medal in a stirring performance through the midfield.

A great crowd assembled at the Cat Shed for a bbqand drawing of the Codgers $1000 draw, which for the second time running was won by Nhulunbuy Saints head coach Dougie Barwick!

If you’re new to town, been here a while, been down before or never at all- there’s never been a better time to come on down to Hindle Oval every Wednesday from 5pm for a run around, a few laughs and ice cold refreshments with the Gove Old Codgers

🤕To the bloke that came down a few weeks ago and looked like he his quad off the bone with the first kick- please come back. I promise it will only get better from here😜

🎅A very Merry Codger Christmas 🎅

Great night down at Codgers HQ with our annual Codgers Family Christmas. Sadly it was also time to farewell a few stalwarts that will be missed.

Huge thanks to Simmo and Noah from NTFRS for bringing the fire truck down to entertain the kids.

Well done to newly appointed Nhulunbuy Saints super coach Dougie Barwick, who took home the $1000 Christmas draw.

Last training next Wednesday before a couple of week break so no better time to kickstart your Codgers career!

A big thank you to those that supported our Movember Breaky at the Boaty yesterday morning. Across the month of November, the Gove Old Codgers were able to raise $1816 to support the Movember campaign which provides support and resources to those experiencing difficulties with their mental health.

A special shout out to Cleanaway for their sponsorship of this important initiative.

It’s never too late to get involved with the Old Codgers so get on down to Hindle every Wednesday from 5:00pm!

A big crowd in attendance last night for our annual “Not the Brownlow” awards night. We were entertained by the very funny Tom Siegert - The Suburban Footballer/Comedian and enjoyed first class food and hospitality from the staff at the Gove Golf Club. Light and Sound guru DJ Bailz was at his all time best as well 🎧

Well done to all of the award winners. Special mention to Michael Stimpson and Kym Searle who were inducted into the Old Codgers Hall of Fame after many years of great service.

Come and join in the fun every Wednesday from 5pm at Hindle Oval. Rain, hail or shine. All abilities (or none) most welcome!
