This is a song I wrote after signing up for a Yoga course in India.

As I was sitting in the office, a young woman stuck her head in the door, and said, "You didn't just sign up for the course, did you?"

It was her experience of the course, which I saw from her facial expression, that helped me see that this course was going to be less than I had expected!

As I sat there whilst the business owner took off to put the money in her safe, I started thinking, "Well I've paid $600 for this course!"

Then, I was given this cold, damp room, not the one was shown when I was inquiring regarding the course, and I remember consciously lowering my expectations of the course. You see, if I had expected 100%, I would have been very disappointed!

I paid $600 for a 10 day course. The accomodation was clean, the vegan food was included alongside the yoga for $60/day. For India, this could be seen as expensive, but look what I got out of it.

Without this woman's accurate, yet brief summary of what lay ahead, not only would I have been very disappointed, but I wouldn't have this song!

I am a practicing Yogi, since 1995, a qualified yoga teacher since 2007, I live and breath yoga. The course was "Average", but I was warned. I prepared myself, then enjoyed the course.

That's why we have this song!

Today, a year ago!
How is that possible?

Today’s the day, the one that counts, but so was yesterday, last week and last month!

Tomorrow, the day after that. One day at a time, that’s where it’s at!

Don’t get me wrong, it’s fine to make plans, but always remember where you are!

For without today, there’s nothing you see!

No Future!
No Present!
No history!

Bagsu road nth India. Lovely morning! Met a new friend Jenny from Sweeden, she’s been travelling for 2 years! Wow!
Most I’ve done is 6 months. That was when I was share housing. Now I’m fortunate enough to have a nice house and life in Australia, so about 3 weeks will do me. Then I miss home!

I hope everyone is happy and living their dream? If not, at the very least, working towards your dream!

I used to be a victim, a winger, then I read about 100 self help books,and my mind became clearer!

One great method I learned was to write down your goals/dreams, if you can’t do that, you’re not ready to live your dreams!

I agree with this!

When I changed my way of thinking, my life changed!
Whether it’s money, self image, communication skills, it’s all possible!

There’ll always be someone better off than you!
But, there’s also someone worse off than you!

If someone has what you want, find out how they got it, then do that!

Yes I’m simplifying it, but if you smoke ci******es for example, and complain about not having much money, then you need to look at how much of a role your day to day choices build your life!

Are you taking action to move towards your dreams, or are you holding yourself back?

Are you a victim of your own choices? ❤️🙏

I met these young men on the train in India!

They were on there way to a Karate tournament.

I was on my way to a yoga retreat.

Having studied both disciplines, I see similarities now!

Karate is a peaceful discipline used to strengthen the body and mind!

Yoga is a peaceful discipline used to strengthen the mind and body!

In Karate, we used exercise and breathing techniques. In yoga we use the same.

I feel that Yoga may go deeper than Karate, as a peaceful way of life.

In Karate, we learned how to be strong and prepared, in case of attack!

In yoga we learn how to be peaceful and free of the “attack” mentality.

I’ve learned that I attract things into my life. This is how I learned to program my mind, to think more positively, therefore reducing the amount of anger and violence in my life!

“You’ll find what you seek! Of that you’re assured! Look for bad, and it’s at the door!

But then close your eyes and look again, and if you like, you’ll see good my friend!

There’s just one thing, of that I’m sure!

You’ll always find what you’re looking for!”

I wrote this poem after coming out of a 5 year relationship!

I coupled my break-up with therapy, meditation, yoga, etc.

I took responsibility for “Me”, I saw the benefits from the relationship!

I even had gratitude for my ex!

We were together to learn and grow! Ironically I grew the most after she dumped me!

Not long after the break-up, I wrote this poem. It was inspired by what I thought was a dead tree at my window, but as I gazed at the tree, I noticed one new leaf that had sprung from the top branch!

Now’s the time!

Like a tree that’s endured a long cold winter, all its life, deep down within. Bare and naked, nothing to hide! Starting to blossom, it’s springtime!

What once looked dead and perished, void of life, explodes into colour, now’s the time!
