The Russian kettlebell swing is a great functional movement and exercise to increase your strength specific to the golf swing. Done correctly this targets two of the most important areas in which you generate power to hit the ball further, the glutes and the core.

Mobility is key for golfers gaining range of motion in their swing and distance off the Tee. That is not to mix up “mobility” with “flexibility” both are two different things.
The bow and arrow stretch reaches the lateral myfascial line creating tension and resistance at full length. Therefor more strength and control at a full stretch. Has your handicap stayed the same the last 12 months? Are you losing distance with the driver as you get older? Get in touch if you are interested in learning more about mobility for golf or mobility sticks in general. •

One of the worlds best golfers Brooke Keopka has said that one of the main things you can focus on as a golfer for strength is strong glutes and legs. Hip rotation in your swing is a huge factor to generating more power and club head speed to get those extra metres off the tee. Glute activation and strength is a big part of that hip rotation that is at work. Here are a couple of examples for better glute activation. Keep in mind if you are feeling the hamstrings working more than your butt, you may have lazy glutes. •

In the most basic sense, your core is what helps you maintain good stability and control through the golf swing. Keeping a stable core allows for a very fluid and consistent swing. ... This ability to rotate comes from the strength of the core muscles.
Here I am demonstrating a great exercise to strength and stabilise the core at a full extension, similar to what you see at a full stretch in a golf swing.

Trying to practice getting the hips through the line before your arms in your golf swing? Here is the dead ball wall throw with an exaggeration on generating power from the hip rotation needed in your swing.
Not only will this help with timing and queuing the body to rotate the hips first, but will develop the core strength and stability which is a huge part of the golf swing.

Trying to improve your golf game? Want to have the strength at full flexibility like the oldest major winner of all time Phil Mickelson?
Mobility and range of motion throughout the swing is the largest difference between your everyday golfer and the pro’s.
If you want to hit longer and avoid injuries as you get older, increasing your flexibility is 🔑.
Your body can move through the swing with much less effort, and you can generate that power and control at a full stretch which is what is needed at the top level. •

Want that extra power in your golf swing to gain 20m off the tee? Just like the oldest major winner ever Phil Mickelson?
Strength and conditioning specifically for golfers is vastly different to your traditional strength training programs.
Not only do you need extra strength to get the club head speed up, you need core stability and good mobility of the entire body.
Here we have the single arm cable chest press, not only does it work the chest and tricep, but it enhances shoulder stability and done correctly encourages the core to stabilise throughout the entire movement, similar to the golf swing.
