Lachlan O'Hara Racing

Lachlan O'Hara Racing My name is Lachlan O'Hara. I am currently racing the #6 Mazda rx8 in the 2018 Mazda Rx8 Cup Series and hoping for a solid debut year.

LACHLAN O’HARA – #24

Lachlan is a 21 year old teen from Lake Macquarie NSW. During 2016 and 2017 he was able through his school (Cooks Hill Campus – Big Picture) to concentrate on his passion of motorsport and racing, but has now moved into the workforce to raise the funds required to continue racing in 2017 and beyond. Lachlan has now been racing for four years having started in Go Karting when

just 13. In 2017 Lachlan moved into open wheel cars, racing a Formula Vee in the NSW Formula Vee Championship. He is currently leading the Rookies in the points table and hopes to finish within the top 10 of the championship. Anyone who meets him can see he is a hard working, honest and well mannered bloke who is always ready to jump in and hit any challenge head on. LACHLAN’S ASPIRATIONS
Lachlan has a strong passion for racing. His number one goal is to move into the top tiers of Australian Motorsport. He is currently one of the youngest competing in the Formula Vee NSW Championship and hopes to develop his skills quickly in this category. Lachlan’s ability to read track conditions, feel car setup, and his experience from karting makes him confident in achieving sound results in his rookie year in open wheel racing.

2017 GOALS & BEYOND

Lachlan will be finishing the season competing in the NSW State Formula Vee Series which will consists of 9 rounds. He is also competing in the Aussie Driver Search in October, hoping to secure the $20000 first prize of a racing budget for 2017. Lachlan is seeking support to raise the funds required to lease 1 round in the Toyota 86 race series and run in the first ever Newcastle 500 event. In addition to all of this racing and work, he is also building a new car to race in the RX8 Cup in 2018, a new series aimed at driver skill and parity, which will consist of 6 rounds running across New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia.

Well that's a wrap for us in the RX8 Cup Series.

We couldn't wrap up though without thanking all of our sponsors and partners over the last 4-5 years, without all of your support, we wouldn't have made half the races we did.

Of all those who have helped, we'd like to especially thank OccSafe Australia Pty Ltd. Mal and Amy have been by our sides over the past 4 years, ensuring we were always able to get on track. Mal and Amy try to make it to as many races as they could in support of Lachlan, often jumping on tools, shouting coffees, grabbing fuel and the list goes on.

We can't thank you enough for your support, encouragement, generosity and most importantly friendship. We know we'll stay in touch regardless, but sincerely, Thank you.

Lachlan, Scott and Ang.

And that's the end of our journey in RX8 Cup. Today, we said goodbye to our trusty RX8 as it goes off to a new home.

Has been great fun, and we've made a lot of lifelong friends along the way. Keep an eye out, we're not quitting Motorsport, just moving on to our next adventure.

🏁!!! DAY 2 WRAP UP!!!🏁

Many ups and downs today.

Race 2- started 6th and finished 5th we had some fuel issues but managed to bring her home!

Race 3- Started in 5th and got a great start, car was sitting pretty in p3 untill the car decided to fowl plugs leaving us rolling down the main straight, really sucks but we where able to creep home too 12th.

Race 4- starting 12th best start of the weekend was sitting in 6th by the end of the first lap car was a rocket, we once again where sitting in the top 3, sadly driver error i made a mistake on the last lap and came home in 8th.

Goods and bads to take home from this weekend, we know the cars fast and i am feeling more and more comfortable.

Cant thank dad and mum enough for taking the long journey down and for all there support as well as dad jumping on the spanners constantly this weekend
