🏏 MEET THE PLAYER — EDITION 8

SUMAN SHRESTHA

Some players contribute through runs and wickets. Others contribute in ways that don’t always show up on the scorecard. Suman Shrestha is one of those players.

Suman was one of the first people involved in building the team we proudly play for today, going all the way back to 2021. Since then, he has remained an integral part of the team — contributing far more than his statistics could ever suggest.

He has produced some memorable performances along the way, including a match-winning 50 against CAM Youths, as well as another important innings against Gosford CC. And if back injuries weren’t part of the story, there’s no doubt we would have seen many more innings like those!

This season, Suman’s role goes well beyond his contribution on the field. The team is counting on him not only as a player, but also as an important part of the management team, where his experience and understanding of the club will be invaluable.

And we simply cannot talk about Suman without mentioning Subu ❤️

Suman’s son has been supporting the team for years and has become a familiar and much-loved face around the club. After being nominated as Supporter of the Year two years in a row, Subu has truly become part of our team family. 👏

Suman is also regarded by many players as one of the team’s unofficial coaches. Whether it’s helping in the nets, giving advice, or happily throwing down ball after ball so the batsmen can get the practice they need — he is always willing to put in the work for the team.

With experience, commitment and a genuine desire to see the team succeed, Suman has a big role to play in the next chapter of our journey.

The team will be relying heavily on his experience, leadership and guidance as we look to take this club to greater heights.

A player. A mentor. A supporter. A leader.

🏏 Dubbo Tour 2026 – Friendship Cup (Running Shield) 🏆

What an incredible weekend of cricket, friendship, and community spirit!

A huge thank you to Everest Club Dubbo for creating such a fantastic cricketing environment and for organising an unforgettable T20 match under the lights. For many of our boys, it was their very first experience playing under lights in freezing cold conditions, making it a memory we’ll cherish for years to come.

We would also like to thank Team Dubbo for organising a well-managed 35-over white-ball match. The effort and hospitality shown by everyone involved made this tour truly special.

Cricket is more than just winning and losing. The introduction of the Friendship Cup Running Shield, with two matches each year (home and away), is a wonderful initiative that will continue to strengthen the bond between Newcastle and Dubbo and promote friendship through cricket for many years to come.

Everest Club Dubbo fought hard until the very end but fell just short, with Newcastle Nepalese winning by 6 runs.

Newcastle Nepalese won the toss and elected to bat first.

A brilliant 97-run partnership between Naren and Suresh helped Newcastle post 212 runs in 35 overs, setting Dubbo a target of 213.

A huge thank you to the wonderful team at Haldi Indian Restaurant, Dubbo. ❤️

You were meant to close at 3:00 PM, but instead you stayed open until 4:00 PM just to make sure our team was looked after. That level of kindness and hospitality is something we truly won’t forget.

Not only did you go out of your way to accommodate us, but you also served some absolutely delicious food and made us feel right at home with your warm, friendly service.
