Newy Netty Legend to NNSW Hyundai Netty Legend 👏🎉

Congratulations to Sharni Matthews from MWNC - Maryland Wallsend Netball Club | Newcastle Netball Association, our July Hyundai Netty Legend of the Month.

We’re continuing the 2026 Netty Legend of the Month program, supported by Hyundai, celebrating the volunteers who are the heartbeat of grassroots netball across NSW.

As a dedicated coach and volunteer, Sharni gives countless hours to coaching young players, mentoring volunteers and supporting fundraising, social media and community initiatives across the club.

Sharni also organised a community netball round in support of a five-year-old local boy undergoing cancer treatment, bringing clubs, players and families together in a sea of yellow.

Her passion for inclusion and helping every child feel welcome has made a lasting impact on players, families and volunteers throughout the community.

🧡💚💛🩵❤️ Our young netballers had so much fun getting involved in our Mental Health Awareness Round last night!

💜🌈 Dressed in their brightest fluro colours, they also filled the courts with colourful chalk drawings and kind messages, reminding us of their love of netball, the importance of being kind, including everyone, and looking after our friends.

Well done to all our little superstars for getting involved! 💚

💚 Our 2026 Mental Health Awareness Round, is a wonderful opportunity to highlight that netball is more than a game, that it is an environment where friendships are formed, support is shared, and people find a sense of belonging. Together, we can create a community where everyone feels seen, valued, and connected.

Throughout this round, we will be sharing some tips for coaches, players, umpires & officials and four important messages around Connection, Belonging, Community and Connection to Support.
