Congratulations to Harvey Byrne on being named our Referee of the Month!
Harvey is the type of official every association loves to have. No matter the occasion, he's always willing to put his hand up and help — whether it's local domestic competitions, representative rounds that require travel, gala days, or special events. If there's basketball being played, chances are Harvey will be there with his whistle.

Known for his positive attitude and constant smile around the stadium, Harvey brings great energy to every game he officiates. His reliability, enthusiasm, and willingness to support the game at every level make him a valued member of our referee community.

🏀 Representing Australia on the international stage!
Rohan has spent the past week in Beijing at the prestigious Nike All-Asia Camp, competing alongside 90 of the region’s top young athletes from 11 countries and territories.

After an outstanding week of training and competition, Rohan was selected in the camp’s All-Star Game, featuring the top players from across Asia-Pacific.

🏀 FOUR NOVOCASTRIANS TO REPRESENT AUSTRALIA IN GREECE 🇦🇺
Newcastle Basketball is proud to congratulate four members of our basketball community who have been selected to represent Australia at the inaugural FIBA World Masters Cup in Greece this July.

Representing Australia will be:

🏀 Andrew Berry – Over 55s
🏀 David Reid – Over 55s
🏀 Butch Hays – Over 60s
🏀 Larry Davidson – Over 65s

To earn selection in an Australian team is an outstanding achievement and reflects the dedication, passion, and lifelong commitment these players have given to our sport.

It is particularly inspiring to see Butch and Larry continuing to compete at such a high level and proving that basketball truly is a game for life.

The entire Newcastle Basketball community wishes Andrew, David, Butch, and Larry every success as they represent both Australia and the Hunter region on the world stage.

NSW REPRESENTATIVES SELECTED IN AUSTRALIAN PEARLS SQUAD FOR 2026 VIRTUS/VIBF 3X3 WORLD CUP

The Australian Pearls have announced a 16-athlete squad for the upcoming VIRTUS/VIBF 3×3 World Basketball Cup, set to take place in Bangkok, Thailand this November.

The premier international event for athletes with an intellectual impairment will bring together nations from around the world, with the Australian Pearls beginning their campaign at a Selection Camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in July and August.

Basketball NSW congratulates Brittany Anderson, Taylor Anderson, Ruby Thomson and Mackenzie Wills on their selection in the national squad, along with Larry Davidson who has been appointed Head Coach.

The upcoming Selection Camp will determine the final Australian teams, with the squad to be narrowed to two teams of five athletes who will represent Australia on the world stage.

This morning, we had the privilege of donating and installing a basketball ring at Ronald McDonald House Newcastle.

We hope it provides children and families with a fun way to stay active, connect and enjoy the game we all love.

🏀 Over the past few days, Newcastle Basketball Stadium has proudly hosted the Hunter Region Independent Schools (HRIS) Primary School Basketball Gala Days!

It’s been fantastic to welcome students from across the region for several days of basketball, teamwork, sportsmanship and fun. We’ve loved seeing so much enthusiasm, effort and enjoyment on the courts.

Thank you to all the schools, teachers, officials and volunteers who helped make the event such a success. 👏🏀⛹️‍♀️⛹️‍♂️
