We now run two programs
-Standard pool lessons coached by an experienced swim teacher who will teach you the basics and ensure you are safe in the water

-Beach readiness program taught by an experienced lifeguard and swim teacher who will teach you about some of the additional dangers that the ocean poses for swimmers and then help you develop strategies to counteract these dangers and develop your swimming skills to this new required level.

New program alert!!

Once you’ve got the basics covered of swimming in a pool, Newcastle Adult swim is proud to introduce a new lesson program known as beach familiarisation sessions!

These beach familiarisation sessions aim to introduce swimmers to the ocean and ensure they can swim safely in all ocean conditions.

We’ll start you off in a pool then get you down to the ocean baths, and finally into the ocean at the beach.

The lessons are $40 per person in small groups or $80 individually. First sessions are available from Jan 6th. Call Alex on 0490398377 or send the page a message to book lessons and start your swimming journey!

Meet your coaches!

Our head teacher, Alex Ta-mé, grew up on the beach taking part in early surf lifesaving training and learning to swim almost before he could walk!

He’s a keen surfer, plays water polo at a competitive level, has formal training and extensive experience in swim training and works as a lifeguard.

Currently studying physiotherapy at Newcastle university, he started Newcastle Adult Swim after rescuing an overseas born PHD student at Newcastle beach.

He wanted to be able to share the pleasure and enjoyment that a coastal lifestyle brings with everyone.
