Team Cairns had an absolute BLAST in the Transplant Australia wave of the Sparton race in Melbourne on the weekend. Blown away that Jazz’s own transplant doctor - who witnessed his new heart beat for the first time in theatre those 5 or so years ago - who saw him struggle to walk very far pre-transplant - overcame obstacles alongside him on the weekend. Transplant nurses, doctor, supporters & recipients of multiple types of transplants, even a person waiting for their new kidney cheered each other on through the varied obstacles. Very grateful for opportunities like these that Transplant Australia make happen. 45kg balls, high nets to climb, 9 foot walls to scramble over, monkey bars and barbed wire crawl were just some of the fun-filled challenges we overcame. So PROUD of my boy - his determination, spirit of adventure, willingness to try anything. What a GIFT this beautiful heart is. It beats to the rhythm of Jazz’s new life, dancing and celebrating every milestone moment.

What a way to spend the day - overcoming obstacles with a bunch of recipients (heart, liver, kidney), Drs, a living donor and recipient family warriors! Oh what fun and a great challenge! Could never have imagined being able to do this before our transplants! Thanks so much & for an awesome day!
