The 66th Annual Gippsland Sports Academy Gippstar Awards were held this evening at the Morwell Bowling Club.

Congratulations to Zaria Dalton who was awarded the Gippstar “Junior” Award for October 2025 for her outstanding performance in athletics.

The video of Zaria receiving her award talks to some of her achievements during the SSV and school related events. In addition to these, Zaria achieved the following during the 2025/26 athletics season representing our Club;

Victorian Country Championships
- Women’s U/18 200M Champion 🥇
- 🥈 Women’s U/18 100M
- 🥉 Women’s U/18 400M & Hammer Throw

Victorian State Championships
- 🥉 Women’s U/17 100M

Broke 6 Gippsland Athletics Club Records during the 2025/26 Season;
- Women’s U/16 200M (twice)
- Women’s U/16 400M (set in 2000)
- Women’s U/16 Long Jump
- Women’s Open 100M (set in 1996)
- Women’s Open 200M

Outside of athletics Zaria has also excelled in Football this season, selected for Victoria Country in the U/16 National Championships and making her U/18 Talent League debut as a 15yo for the Gippsland Power.

We held our presentation dinner and agm last night at the Yarragon hotel. Gippsland Athletics Club point score awards were presented to Brooklynn Wyatt and Liam McCandless for their great seasons. Liam was also awarded the Heather Daldry encouragement award for his athletic achievements and helpful nature. A great night was had by all. It's a fun way to finish off the season.

Zaria Dalton, 14, of Warragul has been named the October Junior Gippstar Award winner in recognition of her outstanding achievements in athletics. In recent State competition, Zaria delivered an exceptional performance—claiming gold in the 100m and 200m, silver in the 400m, a bronze in another 100m event, and contributing to a bronze medal relay team. She is a highly talented and determined athlete, regarded as one of the best in her age group not only in Victoria but nationwide, having also secured gold in the 100m at the Little Athletics Australian Championships. Congratulations, Zaria!
