Do you look upon Swim Teaching as a career and want more than just casual hours?

We have a Permanent Part-Time position available on our team, around 15 hours teaching plus a similar amount of reception work each week, (which could move to Full Time in the next 12 months, if additional hours are wanted).

No need to work in three or four different centres, we have warm pools and beautifully balanced water, we can offer you a “home and a family” where you’ll be happy to go to each day.

Experience and qualifications preferred but even if you’ve been out of the industry for a while, we’re interested in talking. All training provided, supportive workplace, two centres located in New Town and Derwent Park, Hobart - Tasmania.

We’ve just had our Swim Safer week sessions for 2025.

When I’m running my independent beginner classes I often theme it as a trip to the beach and get the kids all excited. Of course everything needs to be done in order, including “sunscreen”. Using a watering can I pour the sunscreen onto their eager hands and encourage them to “rub it in”.

I made up a little ditty that all the children were singing as they left. It went a bit like this …

Last year we started using small dolls, dressed appropriately, in our Toddler classes. Each of the children get to choose a doll and then use the doll to do some of the activities- Eg buckets over the head, reminding them to blow - just as their parents would do with them in the class. They are a big hit. The children are often happy to demonstrate the skills, like big breath or even submerging to the doll. Bought these today from Kmart to add to our doll family and spent the last hour creating swimwear and caps for them. Loving that we have such a great range of dolls for the children to choose from.
