In my experience many yoga classes/teachers focus on flexibility in the poses, that's why some of those bendy pictures you see with yogis able to get their leg behind their head are so intimidating. Those extreme poses can lead to injury in even the most flexible and experienced yogi. In this class we focus on functional movements we need in daily life. Maintaining ease of movement improves the quality of our daily lives. The focus of this class is to build strength and so from that stable and safe place we can explore our range of mobility with these functional movements. This class will incorporate a well rounded journey through the whole body, particular emphasis is on the core. We will explore hips, shoulders, core, hamstrings, some standing poses for strength, some stretches and balancing poses. Expect to come away feeling like you've had a workout that gently challenges and yet leaves you feeling invigorated and empowered.
