Another link in Queensland to meet up with the Great Escarpment Trail via the already existing Brisbane Valley Rail Trail.

Good news story: The Boyne Burnett Inland Rail Trail is evolving - bit by bit.

Two bridges near Many Peaks have now been upgraded with new steel decks and railings, improving access and reopening this section to trail users. The upgrades remove the need to detour through often-flooded gullies, creating a safer and more continuous riding experience.

Once complete, the trail will stretch 270km, becoming the longest rail trail in Australia!

This is a great example of steady progress, community commitment and long-term investment in outdoor recreation infrastructure.

The works are funded by the Queensland Government and delivered through the ongoing efforts of the volunteer-led BBIRT committee

Congratulations. 👏👏👏

Big congratulations to Bushwalking NSW’s very own Caro Ryan, on being awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM)!

You might know Caro from her brilliant Lotsafreshair blog, her must-read book ‘How to Navigate’, her fun and practical navigation courses, or as the host of ‘Rescued: An Outdoor Podcast for Hikers & Adventurers’, sharing real rescue stories to help people hike more safely and confidently.

What you might not know is just how much she gives back. As Deputy Unit Commander of the NSW SES Bush Search and Rescue Unit, Caro has played a huge role in strengthening wilderness search and rescue operations.

Within bushwalking in general, Caro has been at the forefront of communicating outdoor safety, and building community awareness around risk and preparedness.

She is the embodiment of what it means to be a bushwalker.

An absolute legend of the outdoors. Congratulations, Caro Ryan OAM 👏🌿

The rail trail could become the backbone of a network of paths connecting the communities of North Byron Shire.

Thanks Lotsafreshair

That contented, “Ah” moment when you roll out the bivvy (or tent/fly/hammock if that’s your jam), with the last of the day’s light… and realise the light is within you. The gentle hum from a day fully present, a body that has worked, a mind that is switched on with NavHead and you begin to wind down… only to realise that the world around you - nature - never sleeps. It continues to hum, buzz, call and be.
